Rumor: Call of Duty Modern Warfare Warzone Release Date and Gameplay Details Leak Online

For the past few weeks, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players have grown increasingly frustrated as they wait for any new information about Warzone, Modern Warfare's leaked battle royale mode. Despite a growing list of leaks, Infinity Ward has remained tight-lipped about the mode, though that may change soon.

A new leak claims that Warzone's trailer is ready, and it should drop at some point today or on Monday, with a full release for the mode scheduled for March 10th. Other Warzone release leaks have indicated the same date, which does add a bit of legitimacy to this information, but it's still wise to take it with a grain of salt.

If no trailer ends up dropping today, fans will have to wait until Monday to learn more information about the mode. If the leak is correct, the next day would see the launch of Warzone, leaving little time between seeing the mode officially and being able to play it.

According to the leak, Warzone will only support squads when it launches, be free to play, and have its own separate client to launch from. Previous Warzone gameplay leaks have shown players in the mode with just a party of two, and while that can be chalked up to the fact that they had to glitch into the game, it does somewhat conflict with the game mode only supporting squads rather than solos or duos. Of course, it's possible something changed during Warzone's development, or squads simply being open to smaller parties.

That the game is in its own client also seems a tad bit suspicious. Fans have pointed to the current "Classified" tab on Modern Warfare's home screen as a tease for Warzone, though it's possible the leaker means that the client is just for players that access Warzone as a free-to-play standalone option.

Finally, the leaker claims that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is releasing later this year. Reports have indicated that the next entry in the Call of Duty franchise is in trouble, but packaging MW2 Remastered in with the deluxe edition, similar to what Activision did with Infinite Warfare and the original Modern Warfare Remastered, would be a good way to move copies of the game, even if it's a weaker entry.

Again, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, though it seems likely that Warzone will be here any day now. So much information has leaked that revealing the mode is just a formality at this point.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
