Cyberpunk 2077 Fan Shows Off Incredible Handmade Cyber Katana
The dystopian future craft by CD Projekt Red in Cyberpunk 2077 paints a vivid picture of a world run by mega-corporations and a stark contrast between rich and poor made tangible by the technology infused in the people of Night City. While the game has received monumental backlash over its mismanaged launch, Cyberpunk 2077's gritty tech aesthetic has made it a popular source for fan-art and cosplay, with one Cyberpunk enthusiast taking the time to craft their very own cyber katana and Night City streetwear.
Katanas in Cyberpunk 2077 are incredibly strong melee weapons, with builds centered around boosting their damage often becoming quickly overpowered. The lack of ammo consumption and attack speed tends to allow players wielding the weapon to make short work of most enemies in the game, and if you can get your hands on the best katanas in Cyberpunk 2077, your damage can skyrocket.
The other notable factor when considering a katana as your weapon, is the pure aesthetics. The most basic katanas in Cyberpunk still look impressive, with a lot of variance as the player finds more powerful ones. Some of Cyberpunk's iconic katanas look especially impressive, often having special hilt or blade designs that really make them pop. Redditor MaxVagner has taken the basic concept of the game's tech katanas and heavily customized it, creating a glowing pink blade with an LED strip and a hand-crafted sheath for the sword as well.
The sword and sheath are completely made from Plexiglas, according to Vagner, and have the words "Wake the f**k up samurai" emblazoned across them —a quote from Cyberpunk 2077's dutoraganist Johnny Silverhand. Vagner didn't stop at just creating a custom katana though, as they also boast a full Cyberpunk cosplay to go along with it. Dressed in a green and white hooded sweatshirt, streetwear cargo pants, and sneakers, Vagner tops the look off with a horned skull half-mask reminiscent of the game's street gangs.
Not only does Max Vagner do a great job of capturing the feel of Night City's aesthetic, they manage to make it their own. While the katana is based on the game's swords, it is a clearly custom creation, with a design befitting of CD Projekt Red's first person RPG. While the latest patch has seemingly only added more bugs to Cyberpunk 2077, it would be great to see content drops with custom weapon and costume designs added, because livening up Night City a bit may go some way towards soothing the ails of angry fans.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades are in development.
