Gamescom declares Anno 1800 the best PC game of the show

Gamescom has barely begun in earnest, but it’s already time to declare the best games of the show. The Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur - or Digital Game Culture Foundation - has declared the brightest spots of the Gamescom line-up, with 11 bests selected in genre categories and five platform titles awarded. Anno 1800 was named the top PC game, and there are plenty of titles set to be available on your computer among the winners. Total War: Three Kingdoms was named best strategy game, and Landwirtschafts-Simulator 19 was called best simulation game - yep, that’s Farming Simulator. The only game to earn multiple nods was Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which took best puzzle/skill game and best Xbox One game - and don’t worry, it’s also on PC. Read on for the full list of winners, but bear in mind we’re not quite done just yet. The awards will be presented on Saturday, and that’s when the final Best of Gamescom title will be bestowed to one of the platform or genre winners. Best hardware, best multiplayer game, and best VR game will also be named at that time.
