Mass shooting at Madden NFL tournament leaves several dead and injured
A shooter opened fire at the Madden NFL qualifiers, held Sunday afternoon at the Jacksonville Landing shopping and dining complex in Jacksonville, Florida. Local reports indicate that several people were killed and many others wounded. The shooting occurred while the Madden NFL event was being livestreamed on Twitch. Multiple gunshots and screams could be heard over the broadcast. The tournament was being held at the GLHF Game Bar on the north side of St. John's River. According to the Daily Beast, local Jacksonville reporter Vic Micolucci reports that police have said four people are dead and 10 wounded in the shooting. CNN reports the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) has responded to the scene. The area around the Jacksonville Landing is being locked down by local authorities, and the Jacksonville sheriff’s department has instructed the local population to stay far away from the area. Polygon reports multiple streamers have confirmed details of the shooting on personal social media, including top flight competitor Drini Gjoka, who says a bullet struck his thumb.
