The Outer Worlds release date may have been leaked
One of the things about game development that has to be particularly tough is keeping things secret for months and even years ahead of official announcements. And sometimes even the best-kept secrets get out anyway - which may be what’s just happened with The Outer Worlds’ release date. The sharp eyes over at Dark Side of Gaming noticed that SteamDB had logged a change to The Outer Worlds’ entry. Someone had added - and then quickly deleted - a specific release date for the game’s Steam page. That date? August 6, 2019. Obsidian (or whoever is handling The Outer Worlds’ Steam page for them) might have removed the date as soon as it went up, but SteamDB maintains a revision history for each page in the database, and so the date information - even though it’s been removed from Steam itself - remains viewable to anybody looking through the SteamDB entry. Obsidian hasn’t officially announced when The Outer Worlds is launching, and there’s no way to know if this August 6 date that appeared on Steam is accurate without them saying so. However, August 6 does fall on a Tuesday this year, and Tuesday is the traditional release date for videogames.
