Borderlands 3: How to Get the AutoAime Sniper Rifle | Game Rant
With the release of the new DLC for Borderlands 3 titled Moxxi's Heist of The Handsome Jackpot, players are discovering weapons such as the new AutoAime sniper rifle. Minor spoiler warning as the drop location and features of the sniper will be revealed. With that aside, here are the details for the new weapon.
Borderlands 3 is no stranger to unique sniper rifles such as the Pimpernel in Borderlands 2. This time around in Borderlands 3, players now have the AutoAime sniper rifle.
The AutoAime can world drop from any enemy in the Moxxi's Heist of The Handsome Jackpot DLC but the best way to obtain this sniper is to farm Freddy as part of the mission All Bets Off. He has a heightened chance to drop it because it is specifically in his loot pool. If you kill him and it doesn't drop then you should save and quit and repeat until you get one you are satisfied with.
The AutoAime is a Dahl manufactured sniper rifle. As with every Dahl manufactured weapon, it can swap between two firing modes, but there's just one more thing. If you aim at an enemy enough to at least see their health bar or name, even behind cover, the bullets will track the target and deal damage. This is much like having a burst fire Atlas tracking sniper hybrid.
The gun is a pretty solid choice but unfortunately, it's still not good enough for completing activities like the Maliwan Takedown. Most players will find that the weapon is suited for use against random enemies and not single target damage.
That being said, the AutoAime sniper is extremely unique in terms of its ability and players out there should definitely farm Freddy. Having at least one AutoAime is a cool gun to test out with different builds. It could be best on a FL4K build due to their skills revolving around landing critical hits.
As it stands, the AutoAime is fun to use but it is overshadowed by the Lyuda sniper rifle. The Lyuda is a top tier weapon when it comes to sniper rifles but hopefully, the AutoAime can evolve into a popular sniper rifle. With some buffs, the AutoAime can improve in terms of its damage, but players will have to wait and see whether Gearbox Software addresses its shortcomings.
