Destiny 2: Season of Dawn's Best New PvP Weapons | Game Rant

Destiny 2's Season of Dawn has added a new collection of weapons to the game with many of them being solid picks for players' loadouts. Season of Dawn revolves around the new Sundial activity as well as its associated obelisks scattered across some of the game's destinations, which are not quite as many sources for new weapons as was in the combined release of the Shadowkeep expansion and Season of the Undying.

Because of that, there are not quite as many standouts this season as there were when players had multiple new weapon pools last season including Shadowkeep's Lectern of Enchantment and Garden of Salvation raid as well as Season of the Undying's Vex Offensive activity. All of the Shadowkeep weapons are still available, which has been covered in previous articles, so what follows is narrowed down to the newest weapons added in Destiny 2's Season of Dawn.

Season of Dawn has a big focus on long-range weapons, with many of the seasonal artifact mods focused on rifle class weapons and bows. And a great scout rifle that was added in Season of Dawn is the kinetic Patron of Lost Causes. Patron of Lost Causes belongs to the same 200 RPM archetype as MIDA Multi-Tool and the Gambit Prime/Reckoning scout rifle Night Watch. And with the right roll, Patron of Lost Causes can be very good in the Crucible.

The PvP perk combination players should be looking out for is Fluted Barrel, Steady Rounds, Rapid Hit, and Explosive Payload. Patron of Lost Causes can be found by linking the Nessus obelisk to the Sundial and completing Sundial runs.

Symmetry is one of the new exotics from Season of Dawn, and it is another scout rifle. Because of the mods favoring scout rifles this season and its unique exotic perks, this weapon is another contender in PvP. Symmetry is in the same full-auto fast-firing archetype as Randy's Throwing Knife, last season's Crucible ritual weapon. Its unique perks are Dynamic Charge and Revolution. On precision hits, Dynamic Charge starts stacking charges and then when players hold down reload, Revolution activates and consumes those charges going into an alternate fire mode that shoots arc seekers whose power is determined by how many charges were built up. In PvP, players only need to get Dynamic Charge up to x7 to get the weapon's highest damage effects, which will two-tap enemy Guardians.

Symmetry introduces a little bit of a unique playing style and it takes some work to do really well with it; however, it has its place in PvP. Symmetry can be picked up immediately by those who own the paid premium path of the Season Pass and at level 35 for those on the free path.

Last Hope is a three-burst energy sidearm that was once one of the best PvP weapons in the game during Year 1. Season of Dawn brought back Last Hope with the ability to get random rolls, which has allowed this to be even better than before. Also, the sandbox update that accompanied Season of Dawn added more target acquisition to sidearms across the board, which further helps this weapon to stick to targets and be very accurate.

There are multiple perks that are good for PvP including Feeding Frenzy, Quickdraw, and Rangefinder in the third column with Zen Moment and Tap the Trigger in the fourth column. The first two columns aren't quite as vital but the best perks in those columns are the Tactic SAS sight for more range and in the second, High Caliber Rounds is good for staggering enemies and Richochet Round is good for adding more range and stability. Last Hope can drop from anywhere in the game as a world drop, but the most consistent place to farm for it is from Gunsmith rank up packages.

Like Last Hope, The Old Fashioned is a Year 1 hand cannon returning in Season of Dawn with the ability to get random rolls. It is a 140 RPM hand cannon with the best roll being Hitmark HCS or Truesight HCS in the first column, Accurized Rounds in the second, Slideshot or Feeding Frenzy in the third, and Kill Clip or Explosive Payload in the fourth.

This is also a world drop, so it can be found randomly from any Legendary drop or players have a chance of having it drop from Gunsmith rank up packages.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
