Does Borderlands 3 Moxxi Heist DLC Raise the Level Cap?
Fans of Borderlands 3 have been anxiously awaiting all-new content to play through. While the game's Halloween event helped add some replayability, many Borderlands 3 fans were looking for something with a bit more meat.
Luckily, Gearbox announced the Heist of The Handsome Jackpot DLC for the game, giving fans quite a bit to look forward to. But, one question has remained: will Heist of The Handsome Jackpot raise Borderlands 3's level cap?
Gearbox hasn't given an official answer yet, but the answer is probably not, if the past is anything to go by. Traditionally, Gearbox hasn't raised the level cap with the game's first DLC content packs, and all footage shown of the Heist of the Handsome Jackpot DLC in action show far has put players with level 50 still as the cap. With that in mind, it seems unlikely that Heist of The Handsome Jackpot will increase the level cap for players, which is somewhat unfortunate.
Of course, Borderlands 3 is more about the loot and less about leveling itself. The argument can be made that the level cap isn't all that important, as fans will be more focused on the endgame anyway. That being said, reaching new levels does make progression feel all the sweeter, and it's certainly something many fans of the franchise would appreciate. There is, of course, still plenty of time for the level cap to be raised. After all, Borderlands games tend to get plenty of post-launch support, and Borderlands 3 seems no different.
There's still a chance that the DLC raises the level cap, but it seems highly unlikely. Gearbox has stated in the past that Borderlands 3 won't have character DLC, so it's possible that any DLC that will increase the level cap in the future raises it higher than the level 72 cap of Borderlands 2 to compensate, but that remains to be seen. It's impossible to nail down Gearbox's exact plans, but the developer has done a good job with DLC in the past.
The Heist of The Handsome Jackpot DLC isn't too far away now, so Borderlands 3 fans anxious for new content don't have much longer to wait until they can jump back into the boots of their favorite Vault Hunters. Hopefully, there will be plenty of new guns to earn. If not, at least there are some Borderlands 3 SHIFT Keys out now that fans can use towards some awesome loot.
