Epic Games Store 12 Days of Free Games Begins, Plus $10 Coupons
The Epic Games Store is starting up its winter holiday sale in a big way. The store is combining three of its favorite past in-store events into one, heating up its holiday competition with Steam.
The first part of the event rewards all Epic Games Store users, regardless of whether they spend any money. It's called 12 Days of Free Games and it's exactly what its title implies. The second part of the event is a free holiday coupon for $10 off of every game purchase $14.99 or up. And part three is a holiday sale with up to 75% off dozens of games.
To start with the free games, since they'll definitely appeal to everyone, the 12 Days of Free Games delivers on its title. Each day between December 19 and January 1 will have a new free game made available on the Epic Games Store. The game will only remain available for 24 hours and will then be taken down. Everyone who acquires it during its free period will unlock it permanently on their Epic Games Store account. The first 12 Days of Free Games game is Into the Breach, the 2018 GOTY candidate tactical game. A new game unlocks tomorrow at noon.
If 12 free games aren't enough to sate gamers' appetite for holiday acquisitions, Epic's $10 "Epic Coupon" will make it very easy to spend more. Users simply need to enter the store, login, and claim their Epic Games $10 coupon before making a purchase (it will be automatically applied for the first game bought if the buyer forgot to claim the coupon). The coupon's only stipulation is that it's used on a game priced at $14.99 or above. After using a coupon, buyers will be granted another one endlessly during the sale. If that wasn't enough, a claimed coupon will stay on the user's account until it expires May 1.

Since it's the holidays, Epic's going one step further and is featuring dozens of discounted games for the holidays. Games including Borderlands 3, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Red Dead Redemption 2, Control, and more are discounted. Some games are even dropped up to 75% off their pre-sale price. In all, there are 102 games or bundles on-sale through the Epic Games Store for the 2019 holiday. Partners including Ubisoft, Devolver Digital, Double Fine and more have their library of published games on sale. And all of them work with the $10 coupon, so long as they're $14.99 or up.
The Epic Games Store Holiday Sale 2019 will last from today, December 19, through January 1. That's when the 12 Days of Free Games, the auto-replenishing $10 coupons, and the discounts on over 100 games will come to an end. Epic Games is making sure that it's taken seriously compared to Steam for the holiday season.
