Red Dead Online Adding New Moonshiner Specialist Role | Game Rant
So far, Rockstar hasn't quite been able to grab the magic of Grand Theft Auto Online in Red Dead Online, but that hasn't stopped the developer from trying. Since launch, the company has been rolling out regular updates to the game, adding plenty of new content to the Western RPG. Now, Rockstar is adding yet another new specialization for players to check out, The Moonshiner.
The Moonshiner will become available on December 13th, allowing players to make their own bootlegging business and, eventually, even open up their very own speakeasy. The content update will also add new story missions for the role, as players work to take down rival operations alongside Maggie Fike, an experienced bootlegger. It's the first major content update since Red Dead Online introduced specialists back in September.
To actually get started as the Moonshiner, players will have to progress through a bit of the Merchant specialization. Still, it's actually a really cool concept. It's great to see Red Dead Online add a diverse roster of things for players to do, instead of just adding samey roles with no real differences. None of the new content has quite the same level of spectacle as Grand Theft Auto's major updates, but swapping out fighter jets for horseback riding is bound to have that effect.
For awhile, rumors of Rockstar potentially running an Undead Nightmare update had circulated, but it appears to not have been the case. It's still possible that the developer could put it in at some point, but that's mostly wishful thinking at this point, as Halloween, the best time for such an update, has come and gone. Still, one can dream.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is now out on PC too, making this the first major launch that the PC player base has been a part of. Technical issues caused quite a few problems when the game initially launched on PC, but Rockstar used free content as a way to apologize to players for the convenience. The game now appears to be running pretty smoothly. Hopefully this update won't ruin that stability, and players can make moonshine in peace.
