Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Piccolo Image Shows Game's Amazing Attention to Detail

In some instances, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot can be a little off the mark when it comes to adapting specific details about the Dragon Ball series, but overall the game is pretty spot on in this area. What the game does with Piccolo during Meal Time is an excellent example of this.

Meal Time is a Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot segment that sees the player's characters gorging themselves on food to gain temporary bonuses to their stats. As a playable character, Piccolo needs to be able to benefit from Meal Time as well, but if he enjoyed the food like the others, it would be out of character for him as Namekians don't need to eat food; their race survives solely off of water instead.

So water is exactly what Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot gives Piccolo during Meal Time. While playable Saiyans of the series stuff their faces, Piccolo, instead of eating, partakes in the meal with only a glass of water. As if that weren't enough, the game nails Piccolo's personality by having him sit back in his chair, fold his arms, and brood while the others around him devour every edible thing in sight. A Redditor by the name of Clearin posted an image that shows off this situation rather nicely.

All of this isn't to say that Piccolo and other Namekians can't eat food, though. Piccolo has canonically eaten Senzu Beans many times throughout the DBZ anime and manga, so his body does have the capacity to eat and digest things like Saiyans and humans. He just doesn't bother doing it as regularly as they do because he doesn't need to. This makes Saiyan and human customs like breakfast, lunch, and dinner uninteresting to Piccolo. So while he may join the group while they have a meal, he doesn't actually care to eat himself.

Honestly, though, Piccolo drinking water in these types of social gatherings is rather funny. While Vegeta and Gohan have to stuff their faces with enough food to end world hunger to gain their stat bonuses, Piccolo just has to drink what looks to be a rather small and insignificant glass of water, especially when compared to a man of his size. In doing so, Piccolo will gain every stat bonus that Vegeta and Gohan do, just with a lot less work.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
