PlayStation 2019 Wrap-Up Shows Players Their Most-Played Games and More
With 2019 behind us, many have chosen to look back on the year that has passed and reflect on achievements accomplished over the last twelve months. PlayStation has joined in on reminiscing on the best gaming highlights of the year with a 2019 Wrap-Up event being hosted on the Sony website.
The Wrap-Up lets players look back at their play stats for 2019, giving an insight on exactly how attached gamers are to their PS4s. For any PlayStation fans looking to confirm their top games and genres of the year, it can be a fun way to get a new perspective on 2019.
Once players sign in to their PlayStation accounts, they'll be shown their top three games, hours played, achievements acquired over the course of 2019. For players with a habit of logging into older systems and playing their favorite PlayStation classics, those stats won't be reflected in the Wrap-Up, as only the PS4 is calculated in the event. Similarly, those with less time either on their hands or just invested into the PS4, the event will only activate for those who have played at least 10 hours from January 1st, to December 10th, 2019.
Players can follow the above tweet to find their own results from the PlayStation 2019 Wrap-Up, although it seems to be limited to specific regions at the moment. Some Australian fans have voiced their distress at not being able to see their personalized Wrap-Up, but the system is confirmed to work in North America. Getting through the list of achievements, as well as a small promo for the free games available through Sony's PS Plus service, rewards players with a set of Avatars and a dynamic theme that reflects the title players are given at the end of their results.
It should be noted that the system can't entirely differentiate between game apps and video apps when it comes to the total play time. As a result, many players who stream video services like Netflix and Twitch through their PS4 will see a much higher number than they should see from time spent actually playing. So, the record isn't quite an exact metric of gameplay, but other stats like unlocked trophies and the playtime of top games should be an accurate representation of exactly how long players spend on their favorite titles from 2019. In some cases the best DLC of the year like Monster Hunter World's Iceborne and Destiny's Shadowkeep might hit the top spots.
