Modder Reveals the Unseen Terrors of PT's Ghost | Game Rant
Modder and YouTuber Lance McDonald has released a video in which he takes a deep dive into the demo for PT, an unreleased Silent Hill game designed by Hideo Kojima, in order to discover pieces of content which are never seen by the player in usual gameplay. He does this primarily through hacking the game's camera, allowing him to look at areas either not visible, or obscured from PT's first-person view.
This video is one of several he's made detailing the "unseen content" of several video games, including the demo for PT. This most recent video covers the off-screen movements of Lisa, the spectral entity following and terrorizing the player through the game's endless hallways.
As an example of this, one encounter with Lisa shows the ghost looking down at the player from the banisters of the house's second story. In gameplay, the house's dark lighting, paired with the angle the player looks from, obscures most of what's happening from view. From the ground, it appears as though Lisa looks down at the player briefly before walking backwards into the shadows. When McDonald moves the camera to the supposed second floor however, it can be seen that the floor is little more than walls and railing, with Lisa oddly contorting backwards and into the floor after her scene is done.
A more terrifying instance occurs during a segment of the game in which Lisa is supposedly constantly behind the player, and so never quite visible. In normal gameplay, her presence can only be seen by the shadows cast from behind you, in addition to her raspy breathing. But by making it so the game can't track where the player is looking, it can be seen that Lisa is in fact behind the player for this entire segment, ominously twitching the whole time.
A particularly interesting discovery occurs while the player is locked in the bathroom, outside of which footsteps can be heard. Oddly enough considering none of it is visible, these aren't just sounds, but a completely animated walk cycle for Lisa, which doesn't seem to be used anywhere else in the game. Her movements are a fittingly unnatural shamble.
As mentioned, McDonald also has several other videos about PT's impossible to see content. They serve as a fascinating and in-depth look into the demo for one of the most famous games that never was.
PT was cancelled and is no longer in development.
