Call of Duty and Among Us Meme Reveals the Original Imposter
Among Us first launched in 2018, and although the game had a nice little following, it is only recently that the title has blown up to epic proportions. Among Us hit a very impressive milestone recently, as players all over the world are enjoying the multi-player who-dun-it survival game. And as the game continues to grow in popularity, fans have created art on social media and even memes, with the most recent one being a Call of Duty crossover.
The main gameplay hook of Among Us is that there are multiple crew members tasked with completing objectives, but at least one member of the crew is an "imposter." That imposter goes around sneakily murdering the crew and trying not to get caught doing so. One Reddit user found parallels to the gameplay of Among Us and one iconic Call of Duty moment.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has a shocking moment, when it was revealed that General Sheppard was an enemy. He betrays both Roach and Ghost after seeming like a valiant leader for so long. It seems like Sheppard would be a great imposter in Among Us.
Reddit user u/MastahOogway posted a small but funny piece of artwork, one of the many great Among Us memes. This one has General Sheppard, looking like a character from Among Us, pointing a gun and getting ready to take down Ghost, also as an Among Us character. The meme is designed to look exactly like a killing moment in the game, when the imposter catches an unexpecting crew member.
Among Us has blown up in popularity, after initially being pretty much unknown. Now it is going toe-to-toe with the like of Fall Guys, another fun multiplayer party type game. The fan reception coming with memes and art is only adding to the popularity, as this particular meme was posted on the Call of Duty subreddit. The sharing of Among Us content has stretched far beyond simply its own player-base, so a group of Call of Duty fans, for example, may now have been introduced to the backstabbing chaos of the game.
Innersloth is currently working on Among Us 2. If the game is anywhere near as fun as the first, it will most likely see similar success, and therefore loads of fan art, love from fans, and memes. Except this time it probably won't take two years to catch on.
