Horizon Zero Dawn Fan Creates Awesome 3D Printed Shellwalker
When the PlayStation 5 was first launched in 2020, one of the most talked about PS5 titles announced for the platform was Horizon Forbidden West, the direct sequel of Horizon Zero Dawn. With a release window for late 2021, fans have been playing and replaying the base game, in order to catch up to the sequel’s sequence of events. Recently, a HZD fan went on a nostalgic trip and showed off their creative skills by re-creating the action-adventure game’s Shellwalker in 3D printed form.
Many fans would likely recall Horizon Zero Dawn as one of the exclusive titles for the PlayStation 4, though later on the game was ported to PC. Developed by Guerilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the title was well-received due to its unique setting and reactive gameplay. Horizon Zero Dawn’s main protagonist Aloy eventually became a popular female character in the gaming universe. This is seen in how she has also appeared in other heavily-played games such as Fortnite, Monster Hunter World, and more.
Though Horizon Zero Dawn’s main character and environment are likely deemed very memorable by its players, most fans probably remember the game for its massive monster machines. On Reddit, user MarkelangeloStudios shared their original 3D-printed creation inspired by HZD’s Shellwalker. The figure comes complete with the Shellwalker’s heavy load, and has a custom paint job that really reflects what it looks like within the game. Most fans will likely recall the Shellwalker as one of the early foes they can encounter within the game, before Aloy makes it past the gate out of Horizon Zero Dawn's Nora region.
This is not the first time that MarkelangeloStudios has shared one of their unique 3D printed figures. They have also shared another creature they 3D printed from Horizon Zero Dawn, the Ravager, another early-game foe. With MarkelangeloStudios’s creations being incredibly detailed and unique, many of the commenters on the Reddit thread could not help but ask if these items were for sale. As of writing, the Redditor has already been able to sell some pieces of both the 3D-printed Ravager and Shellwalker, to sate the demand of Horizon Zero Dawn fans.
With Horizon Forbidden West recently revealing new gameplay features, explorable areas, and more, marketing materials have also revealed that players will encounter and destroy new machine monsters in the sequel. Hopefully MarkelangeloStudios is still making his 3D creations then, so Horizon Zero Dawn fans can purchase replicas of the machines, and have a little piece of the game inside of their homes.
Horizon Zero Dawn is available now on PC and PlayStation 4.
