Destiny 2 Gambit Player Denies Enemy Team 60 Motes With 1 Shot

While Destiny 2's lack of content at launch was lamented as one of the game's biggest issues at the time, four years later the game has flourished in many ways. This is likely thanks to Bungie's renovated approach after the successful launch of Forsaken, which celebrated its third anniversary just a week ago, and also thanks to the seasonal model that constantly adds new things to do or look for. Destiny 2 has a good balance of difficult PVE content and PVP as well, like the newly revamped Trials of Osiris show.

The perfect blend of PVE and PVP is offered in Gambit, a game mode that launched alongside Forsaken, where players have to defeat waves of enemies and either invade the opposing Guardians' battlefield or fend off invaders. Gambit is full of close calls, where depositing Motes before an invader gets to score a kill is all about timing, and so is rapidly defeating Blockers to allow allies to summon the Primeval. As such, what a Destiny 2 player achieved in Gambit was an incredible feat, and the corresponding Reddit post garnered quite a bit of following.

In fact, ResponsibleCover868 shared a clip of their spectacular play as an invader, which denied a whopping total of 60 Motes to the enemy team. What the Guardian managed to accomplish is no easy task, and it all started with them depositing 15 Motes for their team, and then take the portal to the enemy Guardians' battlefield, rocket launcher ready. Since all opposing players were gathered around the Motes bank to defeat the Blocker and deposit their precious items, ResponsibleCover868 shot their Deathbringer in the general direction of the enemies.

Because each of Deathbringer's missiles split into target-seeking projectiles, detonating the missile at the right time can result in all of the projectiles converging on the enemies. This is precisely what happened in this case, and a single shot was able to wipe out the entire team of four Guardians, much to their dismay. Losing Motes is already troublesome in Gambit, but being denied 60 of them in a bunch of seconds can drastically change the tides.

Destiny 2 players are no strangers to incredible Gambit invasions and counterplays, like the one shared by another Redditor, where they stop a Titan invading with Thundercrash from landing any kill. Despite Gambit being in need of a rework and more content, being down to only four maps left since Beyond Light, it is still one of the most intense activities available in Destiny 2, as this story proves yet again.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
