Destiny 2 Eriana's Vow Exotic Hand Cannon Perks Detailed

For a while, Destiny 2 players have been asking Bungie to create a hand cannon that functions more like a sniper rifle, delivering massive damage at long range. And finally, in the upcoming Shadowkeep expansion, Bungie is going to deliver.

The new sniper hand cannon is called Eriana’s Vow and it is an exotic available in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. Previously, fans had only seen brief glimpses of Eriana’s Vow in action, but thanks to some new content from creators that visited Bungie, we know how the exotic hand cannon works and what perks it includes.

First up, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep players will want to know how to get the Eriana’s Vow. Since it’s one of the marquee exotics included with the expansion, Bungie seemingly didn’t want to look Eriana’s Vow behind RNG. Instead, the exotic hand cannon will be part of the Season Pass unlock path at Rank 1.

This might seem like players have to pay in order to gain access to the exotic hand cannon, but any who purchase Shadowkeep will gain the Season 8 Season Pass. Essentially, it’s a free exotic right out of the gate and it’s a pretty cool one at that.

As mentioned, the Eriana’s Vow exotic is like a combination between a sniper rifle and a hand cannon that fires 90 rounds per minute. It uses special ammo instead of primary ammo and it features a scope for precision hits, which will come in handy when synergizes with the weapon’s perk set.

Eriana’s Vow’s intrinsic perk is called “Looks Can Kill” and it equips the weapon with special shield-piercing ammunition. Rather than worrying about melting down an enemy’s shield and then doing basic damage, this exotic will get right to the meat. The perk also includes the previously mentioned scope.

The other unique perk for Eriana’s Vow is called “Death at First Glance” and is focused on using the hand cannon’s scope. When aiming down sights, players get bonus damage (about 45%) on the first shot fired. Moreover, the perk persists if players hit a precision shot or if they shoot an enemy with an elemental shield. And for those curious, all you need to do to regain the bonus damage is exit and re-enter ADS.

With maximum impact and range, the Eriana’s Vow looks to be the type of exotic that will one shot a lot of Destiny 2 enemies in basic PvE encounters. Many of the content creators were only able to use the weapon during a run through the new Nightfall Strike: Ordeal so there was added resilience to the enemies.

But either way, Eriana’s Vow could be a fun weapon to use in PvE but it may be even deadlier in Crucible. We’ll have to see how the damage scales to Guardians after the Season 8 balance changes, but Eriana’s Vow could be that slow-firing hand cannon that packs a serious punch.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep releases October 1, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
