Destiny 2: Shadowkeep: How To Get and Use Upgrade Modules
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep features a ton of new ways for players to upgrade and customize their gear. One of the most important new resources Destiny players have to do so are Upgrade Modules, a new item that players can use to push all their fancy new Armor 2.0 gear to new heights.
Players have a pretty healthy amount of ways to actually acquire Upgrade Modules, some easier than others. Upgrade Modules can be purchased from The Gunsmith for a few different rotating currencies. This is probably the easiest method of acquiring Upgrade Modules, though they are rather expensive, currently costing players 1 Enhancement Core, 10 Legendary Shards, 25 Simulation Seeds or Helium Filaments, and 5,000 Glimmer each.
Alternatively, players can complete bounties from the Gunsmith Weekly Bounty Board to gain Upgrade Modules, though this is capped at one per week. Upgrade Modules will also appear as a Season Pass Reward for Season of The Undying, giving players yet another way to earn them. The Modules are available via the free track of the pass too, so no purchase is actually necessary to earn them through that method. It's worth noting that players can only have 25 Upgrade Modules at any time, so it's important to use them once players reach that cap.
After earning that fancy new currency, players will also need to spend it. As fans can probably expect, the currency is used to upgrade and infuse gear of any rarity in Shadowkeep. In fact, it's now the only currency players need to spend to upgrade their gear, making it a tad easier to upgrade gear depending on how players acquire the Upgrade Module. In the menu screen, players will be able to use the Upgrade Modules by selecting the gear they want to upgrade and then selecting the gear they want to upgrade it with. One Upgrade Core later, and they'll have a freshly enhanced set of gear to show off to all their friends. With Bungie's beefy new updates to Destiny 2, infusing may prove to be less of a necessity, as players should be earning more relevant gear for their characters.
Destiny 2 players now have the ability to transmog their gear with armor ornaments, so players may not want to waste Upgrade Modules on gear simply because it looks cooler. Shadowkeep is shaping up to be a promising expansion, even for players just getting started with New Light. Hopefully, Bungie is able to keep Destiny players engaged with great rewards.
