Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Patch Notes Reveal All of the Changes
It’s safe to say at this point that the launch of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep has gone less than smoothly. For most of today, in fact, it straight-up stalled, as the servers for Destiny 2 were temporarily down following numerous reports of players having trouble logging in. With nothing else to do, then, frustrated players can get whatever Destiny fix they can by checking out the patch notes for the game’s latest update.
Update 2.6.0.1 brings with it all of the big changes that fans have been eagerly anticipating for months. Not only does it relaunch Destiny 2 as its new free-to-play version, Destiny 2: New Light, it changes how several of the game’s core systems regarding items, loot, and activities leading up to Shadowkeep’s new content work.
Bungie shared in a blog post noting everything that was added today. Most of it won’t as a surprise to those who’ve been following the news on the Shadowkeep expansion and New Light, but seeing it all together, it really drives home just how massive it is.
The full notes can be found below, in all that massiveness. There players can see how the new Armor 2.0 and weapon mod systems function, which weapons have been buffed and nerfed, how the economy has been adjusted, and the ways Supers have been adjusted, just to name a small number of the highlights.
If anyone has managed to read all of this without giving up and just skimming through most of it, well done to them. They are now ready to dive into Shadowkeep, the new Season of the Undying, and the whole of Year 3 of Destiny 2 on the best possible footing.
This coming year marks an interesting new era for the Destiny franchise, as it’s the first following Bungie’s split with Activision, and already Bungie has teased some rather sizable changes beyond today’s new content, extending all the way into Season 11 next year. Things are definitely going to be very different from the last two years of Destiny 2, and hopefully that will mean fewer day-one server shutdowns.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and New Light are available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
