Mortal Kombat 11 Adding Cassie Cage Harley Quinn Skin | Game Rant
Mortal Kombat 11 studio NetherRealm Studios is owned by Warner Bros., which also happens to own DC Entertainment. This is why the Injustice games came to be, and why Mortal Kombat games tend to have DC Comics guest characters. Mortal Kombat 11's DC Comics guest character is none other than The Joker, though he won't be added to the popular fighting game until January 28, 2020. But while Mortal Kombat 11 fans still have a few months before they can play as Joker, they can whet their appetite with the new Cassie Cage Harley Quinn skin that's coming to the game as early as next week.
The Cassie Cage Harley Quinn skin is coming to Mortal Kombat 11 alongside the Terminator DLC. It doesn't appear as though new voice lines were recorded to match the skin, but visually-speaking, it seems to be a rather faithful recreation of the popular character. Cassie Cage's drone is even getting a makeover as part of the skin that makes it look much more in line with Quinn's unique style.
The official Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter page released the first footage of the Cassie Cage Harley Quinn skin, showing her go toe-to-toe with The Terminator. The Terminator won't actually be in the game as a playable character until October 8, at which point he will become available to Kombat Pack owners. Everyone else will have to wait until October 15 to play as The Terminator. It's assumed that the Cassie Cage Harley Quinn skin will also be added to Mortal Kombat 11 on October 8.
It's quite likely that the Cassie Cage Harley Quinn skin is being added as a way to promote the upcoming Birds of Prey film. Set in the DC Extended Universe, the Birds of Prey film seems to focus almost entirely on Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, who was undoubtedly the breakout star from the Suicide Squad movie. The movie doesn't hit theaters until February 7, but a new trailer for Birds of Prey did drop today, around the same time as the Cassie Cage skin was unveiled.
New character skins are great, but some Mortal Kombat 11 fans will be more interested in full-fledged new characters. Luckily, The Terminator's release is just a week away, and then Sindel is coming on November 26. After that, fans can look forward to Joker on January 28, and Spawn on March 17. NetherRealm hasn't revealed yet if it's going to release a Kombat Pack 2, but rumors and leaks point to that being a highly likely possibility.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
