Pokemon Sword and Shield Adds New Free Mystery Gift | Game Rant

With the holiday season finally winding down, there is sure to be an abundance of budding new trainers populating the online landscape of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Although most of the game’s Dynamax Dens may still be populated with Delibird to celebrate the holidays, plenty of ferocious and helpful Pokemon are still roaming the Wild Area. While it may take them a little while to make their way to Sword and Shield’s end-game, they’re sure to be taking in all the sights and sounds that the Galar region has to offer.

In the spirit of the holidays, Pokemon Sword and Shield are currently offering all trainers a free mystery gift until January 30 rolls around. The mystery gift in question is a sizeable 20 Battle Points that trainers can spend at the Battle Tower to help their competitive play. It’s a nice little gift, as getting Battle Points can be both time-consuming and a bit difficult.

Pokemon Sword and Shield have actually been offering free gifts to players throughout the month of December, like a series of codes for free pokeballs. Though some players may have missed these codes when they were first announced, they still have plenty of time to claim them as they don’t expire until January 15. It’s nice to see Pokemon getting into the holiday season and giving out gifts to new and old players alike.

Getting back to the recent Battle Points gift, to redeem their points players simply need to head to the mystery gift icon in the main menu. Click it, and head to ‘Get Mystery Gift,’ and then select ‘Get Via Code/Password.’ The menu will shift to a keyboard prompt, at which players will need to type in this code: G1GANTAMAX.

As mentioned before, Battle Points are an invaluable form of currency for players who have finally taken down the Galar region’s formidable champion, Leon. Though whether Leon is the best champion in the Pokemon series is debatable, the fact remains that in order to use these Battle Points players are going to need to work their way to the top to make the most out of them. Undoubtedly, those players who are serious about competitive Pokemon are going to want all the Battle Points they can get their hands on, as they can be spent on helpful items at the game’s Battle Tower.

The Battle Tower houses some seriously good items, like mints that change a Pokemon’s ability or held items that can turn the tide of battle. Items like the Eject Button, which is invaluable for those who want to shut down their opponent's Dynamaxed Pokemon quickly and easily, are available for purchase at the Battle Tower's different shops. So, while 20 Battle Points is just a start, it’s a nice little boost to help get players on the road to taking down trainers in the Battle Tower and racking up more and more Battle Points to make their ideal competitive team.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are currently available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
