Epic Games Store Reveals New Free Games for February 2020

The Epic Games Store has a practice of gifting users a new game every week, but after February 6th, three games will be free for users. After the current free game offer for Farming Simulator 19 expires, the new games, PandemicCarcassonne, and Ticket to Ride, all digital adaptations of board games by developer Asmodee Digital, will be available until February 13th.

An Epic Games Store account is free, and the game offers are available to all users, so having an account can be a good way to try out new game titles for anyone looking to bolster their library. In addition, there's no need to worry about losing the games after the week is over, as any game downloaded during the offer is available to keep forever.

Pandemic is perhaps the most complicated of the three games which will be offered. In it, players work together in order to combat and cure a host of global diseases. It essentially functions as an elaborate puzzle, with all the humans using teamwork, strategy, and a variety of special abilities to combat the game's mechanics, which attempt to force an endgame scenario. It's a good test of forward planning, though there's no way to play against other people.

Carcassonne is a competitive game based around building a kingdom by placing a variety of square tiles on the board. While the actual gameplay is rather difficult to explain, it essentially revolves around arranging tiles into specific formations in order to gain points. Like any strategy game, planning is important, though Carcassonne tends to have more on the fly decision making, as players often won't have the tile they're looking for.

Ticket to Ride is another competitive game, this one based off of the boom in the railroad industry in 1800s America. Players take turns attempting to build the most successful railroad empire, while completing hidden contracts to earn points. Ticket to Ride can be made as competitive as players want to make it, based around how aggressive they are in interfering with other player's routes.

Anyone who has interest in any of the above might want to check out the Epic Games Store. After all, it's all completely free, but only for a week.

PandemicCarcassonne, and Ticket to Ride are all currently available on PC.
