Resident Evil Ambassadors Testing New Game | Game Rant
The Resident Evil series has been on fire lately, with at least two games officially in the pipeline. With leaks about gameplay and enemy types for Resident Evil 8 and Resident Evil 3 before that, it's a good time to be a Resident Evil fan, especially for the people who have signed up for the Resident Evil Ambassador Program.
The Resident Evil Ambassador Program is a subscription service that gets those who sign up invitations to Resident Evil events, news, and extra tidbits like art and progress reports. They will likely be some of the first to get a first-hand taste of the terror that Resident Evil 3 is set to manifest as, and in March, they are eligible for another first among Resident Evil fans.
Capcom recently extended an invitation to those in the Resident Evil Ambassador Program to attend a playtesting session near them for an unnamed Resident Evil title. The four locations given are New York City and Los Angeles in the United States, Tokyo in Japan, and Frankfurt in Germany, but fans can only get in if they are actually subscribed to the Resident Evil Ambassador Program. It is currently unclear, and a serious question, what game the test is actually for. Resident Evil 8 is still in the rumor stage, so it seems unlikely anyone would get to play it this early.
This is not the first time this has happened, with the most recent playtesting sessions giving Ambassadors a chance to test out Resident Evil Resistance. There is a good probability that the game the Ambassadors will get to play this time will turn out to be Resident Evil Resistance again, perhaps with changes made after listening to feedback. Considering the fact that that Resident Evil Resistance is an add-on to Resident Evil 3, which is coming out in April, and the playtesting sessions are in March, it seems plausible that the sessions could be for Resident Evil Resistance with the express purpose of fine-tuning it before release.
The other possibility, that Resident Evil 8 will be making an unexpected appearance, is certainly tantalizing, if a bit unlikely. It is probable that Capcom wants to make the game as polished as possible before letting any concrete part of it out to the public so the company can fall back on it if the non-cannon prospects, like Resident Evil Resistance, don't go over well.
The last possibility is, of course, that it will be Resident Evil 3 Remake that gets trotted out for a test run before its big release. How much of the game would be put on display at a playtesting event like these is uncertain, but it would certainly be a thrill if someone discovered a cool collectible before the game even officially came out.
Resident Evil 3 will release on April 3rd for PS4, PC, and Xbox One
