Who Will Be the New Playable Character in Apex Legends Season 4?
Apex Legends season 4 is set to begin in just a little over a month's time, and while developer Respawn Entertainment has been keeping everything under lock and key, there's one thing fans know for certain: there'll be a new legend. Every season thus far has introduced one new character to play, with it being Octane in Season 1, Wattson in Season 2, and Crypto in Season 3.
Many may be wondering who it'll be; after all, plenty of Apex Legends characters have leaked. A lot of these names have been up in the air for some time, but there is a notable pattern to help narrow down these characters. First, it's worth mentioning that, currently, there's 11 playable character: 4 assault classes (Wraith, Bangalore, Mirage, Octane), 3 tank classes (Gibraltar, Caustic, Wattson), 2 support classes (Lifeline and Pathfinder), and 2 recon classes (Crypto/Bloodhound). Considering the amount of each class alongside what class each new character was in prior seasons - Octane/Assault, Wattson/Tank, and Crypto/Recon - all signs point toward the next character being a Support class character.
Furthermore, there appears to be meteors spontaneously appearing on the map, which could be indicative of the new Apex Legends character. That doesn't necessarily have to be the case, though, as it could be connected to the map changes for season 4, which the character could or could not be involved in. Yet, Crypto was teased via his power at the beginning of season 2, so with all of this in mind, what leaked characters fit the bill for season 4?
The leaked Apex Legends character Nomad could be a handy support character to see in the game, as his abilities reportedly involve additional backpack space for the squad, a compass showing nearby loot, and the ultimate ability of crafting supplies. The full extent is unknown, but it seems Nomad would help players manage storage space and get better items. Therefore, Nomad could be the next character, but if the meteors are somehow related, then it's unclear how the two could be connected. However, it is worth mentioning that the 12th character was teased in the Season 3 trailer, and his appearance would seemingly fit Nomad's.
Appearing as the daunting voice behind the Shadowfall LTM, Revenant is an existing character in Apex Legends lore whose rumored abilities could place as a support character. Revenant is described as a speedy character who can mark enemies with a dagger, disable enemy abilities, and recall anyone from death. The latter sounds really intriguing for tight fight-or-die scenarios, and as a a robotic character, it could be that the meteor falls are actually something similar to Titan Falls or something related to Revenant's penchant for death.
Of all the potential Apex Legends support characters on this list, Immortal has the most boxes check marked. It appears to wear something akin to a Pilot's suit of armor from Titanfall, thereby suggesting that the aforementioned Titan Fall would actually make sense if it were something experimental and the meteors were teases/covers for Immortal dropping in. Skill-wise, Immortal is essentially a shield-oriented Lifeline. It is capable of reviving itself when downed, has a tactical that will heal ally shields or damage enemy shields, and a Ultimate that fully restores Immortal and passes his revive ability to nearby allies for 30 seconds.
Of the possible leaked support characters here, Conduit is the least likely to be added, as game files suggest that Conduit is in early development. Conduit, like Immortal, seemingly deals in shields, with the ability to grant "overshields," a unique passive that changes how Conduit's own health and shields behave, and an ultimate of a giant arc ball that blasts enemy shields in Apex Legends. Also given Conduit's similarities to Immortal, it would seem that it would be some time before Conduit gets their time to shine.
Of course, there are other characters who have leaked like Rosie, Jericho, and Rampart, but their qualifications don't really seem to match. There's truly no telling what Respawn has up its sleeve, though, so Apex Legends fans excited for Season 4 may just want to be patient a few more weeks.
Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
