Call of Duty Fan Creates Replica Wunderwaffe Lightning Gun from Zombies Mode
Since the release of the fan-favorite zombie mode in 2008 with Call of Duty: World at War, fans have been finding ways to show appreciation and dedication for the mode. This could be through cosplay, collecting zombies merchandise, and other creative means such as creating replicas of weapons from the mode.
Zombies mode player TheApropalypse has created one of the most iconic weapons to ever be featured in the mode. With impressive craftsmanship, The Apropalypse has brought the Wunderwaffe DG-2 to life with astounding detail and accuracy to the weapon that is in-game.
The Wunderwaffe, nicknamed by many players as the Wonder Waffle, made its first appearance on the map Shi No Numa and was obtainable by player luck in the mystery box. Shi No Numa also introduced players to staple mechanics in the series such as the Hellhound mini-boss round as well as an expansion to traps that worked differently than the electric traps that were featured at the time.
The Wunderwaffe DG-2 holds three shots in one cartridge that is representative of the three charge batteries that are held on the side. When shot, the weapon chains lightning through nearby zombies which is a great way to clear a path if the player was ever stuck by zombies in a sticky situation. However, the player has to be careful when firing the weapon as firing too close to the player will cause the player to be slowed and electrified which can easily spell doom for any high round attempts.
Although the Wunderwaffe had a low ammo capacity and ammo reserves, this did not stop players from wanting to zap zombies to death. The replica from TheApropalypse is a nod to the golden days of Call of Duty and its zombie mode and can be appreciated due to its wow factor paired with nostalgia and with the release of the next Call of Duty game, players can only hope for a return of zombies in general.
When thinking of wonder weapons in the zombie mode, most players would usually point out the OG Ray Gun and Wunderwaffe DG-2 combo. The sheer power and killing potential of the Wunderwaffe DG-2 has earned its place in the heart of zombies players as many would probably include the weapon in their top five favorite zombie mode wonder weapons.
