Destiny 2 Players Uncover New Osiris Dialogue for Season of the Worthy
Since the release of Destiny 2’s Shadowkeep, Bungie’s shared-world shooter has been building towards what fans hope is a significant change in the narrative. With the discovery of the pyramid ships on the moon, Bungie made clear that a showdown is looming and a new datamined piece of dialogue further reinforces that.
When Bungie updated the files for Destiny 2 this week, the studio also put in a lot of the framework that will lead into the end of Season of Dawn. Dataminers were able to uncover details about the upcoming Empyrean Foundation event before Bungie officially revealed the event’s purpose and goals in a blog post. And the files even offered some hints about where Destiny 2’s story will go next Season, which players now know will be called the Season of the Worthy.
But what has a lot of the Destiny 2 community theorycrafting and speculating is a new conversation with Osiris that could have a major impact on the game. Check it out below:
While it’s unclear who Osiris is talking to, fans have some theories. Some think that Osiris may be talking to Rasputin, the Warmind featured in past Destiny 2 expansions, while others think it might be an older version of players’ Guardians. Using the Corridors of Time concept, Bungie has been able to leap through time and feature storylines from both the past and future of Destiny, so it’s possible that players may come face to face with Osiris later in life.
Whatever the case may be, Osiris’ words suggest that a conflict is looming in the Destiny world and that players will need to make a choice. Bungie may have put off deliver on its promise of a light vs. dark showdown, but we may finally get it (or at least the first hints of it) in the next season.
This could also play into the theory that Destiny players will eventually wield the powers of darkness much like they do the powers of light. Instead of subclasses based on the Traveler’s powers, players would wield elements or abilities that represent darkness. No doubt this would be a way for Bungie to shake things up in Destiny, while also working within a familiar template.
Of course, datamined dialogue is not set in stone and it doesn’t mean that Osiris will actually say these words in-game. Empyrean Foundation starts soon, though, so keep a lookout for any major narrative changes.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
