Hotel Offers Unique Nintendo Switch Suite For Limited Time
Nintendo is making charity fun by teaming up with a Toronto-based hotel. Together, they are making a Nintendo-themed room available to visitors interested in a Switch-themed stay while doing good in the world.
Nintendo has a history of connecting with charities; it has donated regularly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Hopelink, Youth Eastside Services, and others. Video games are a great way to connect users with charity drives and events. Proof of that is GDQ, a semi-annual speedrun community event that raises millions for Doctors Without Borders. And Nintendo is trying something new to collect some dough for charity this year.
From March 11th to March 26th, 2020, Switch fans can book a hotel room at Hotel X Toronto. For $500 a night, guests can check out the Nintendo-themed rooms, play on the provided Switch and Switch Lite consoles, and give money to charity while they are at it. The hotel's website claims that visitors will "be able to choose from a library of more than 50 popular Nintendo Switch games - everything from Super Smash Bros.™ Ultimate to Fortnite to The Legend of Zelda™ to the latest Canadian indies." There will be access to the most downloaded titles from 2019 for the Switch to enjoy in the comfort of the luxury suite.
Nintendo of Canada and Hotel X Toronto have teamed up to give Nintendo fans the ultimate “night in” with the Nintendo Switch video game system. From March 11 to 26, the luxury hotel’s Presidential Suite will be transformed into the “Nintendo Switch Suite” - an immersive, bookable experience designed for social gaming with friends... All proceeds from every booking will be donated to Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organization on a mission to spread joy to sick kids across the country.
It looks like only one of the rooms at the Hotel X Toronto will be Switch-themed during the event, making getting to be part of it an exclusive experience that only a few will get to have. And the best part is that the proceeds will go to a charity that could really use everyone's support. The Starlight Children's Foundation supports children with illnesses and their families, which is something everyone should be able to get behind. It's wonderful to see the softer side of Nintendo recently; not only does it regularly team up with charities and others to help out those in need, but it has also replaced a broken Game Boy for a 95-year-old fan for free. This is the kind of good, wholesome news the world needs.
Interested in trying to book the room? Go to hotelxtoronto.com. Try to book soon; this will most likely sell out faster than the Animal Crossing-themed Switches.
