New Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 Gameplay and Story Details Leak Online
In the absence of official word from Nintendo, plenty of rumors and supposed leaks concerning The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 have appeared online. Perhaps one of the biggest is the Bond of the Triforce rumor that declares that to be the title, as well as there being dungeons in which Link and Zelda must cooperate to complete. The latest rumor doesn't contradict this one and even spells out some interesting details regarding its story, gameplay, and primary antagonist.
According to this supposed leak, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will take place immediately after the first game, with Link and Zelda attempting to rebuild Hyrule while facing a new threat. There will be flashback sequences and memories, much like the first game, but these are said to be before Link slept for 100 years and goes even further back than the original. The source indicates that these memories are "very Godfather Part II-esque," but didn't go into further detail.
The source also indicated that Ganon will not make any sort of return in Breath of the Wild 2, though this makes some sense as a direct sequel. Furthermore, there was an enemy in the original reveal trailer who many believe to be Zant, the antagonist from Twilight Princess, and so this is not really a stretch of the imagination. This would likely disappoint fans of the rehydrated Ganon meme, though.
Of course, the real question is how accurate this "leak" truly is. The Redditor who posted it, u/BobisTheWise, claims that their source has been accurate before, describing them as spot-on in regards to Xenoblade 2 a full year prior to its release. But even if this source can be believed, BobisTheWise cannot be truly. It's the only post from user on Reddit and so the source itself could be made up.
As such, and will all rumors regarding The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, it's best to take this with a hefty dose of salt. It seems to be fake and likely guesswork, as nothing here seems as substantial as it is described. That said, stranger things have happened than one-off rumors being true, so fans should wait and see what Nintendo has to say about the game, hopefully sooner rather than later.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is in development for Nintendo Switch.
