Rumored PS5 Exclusive Debunked | Game Rant
With the unveiling of the PlayStation 5 supposedly right around the corner, it seems there have been more leaks than ever before in regards to what major exclusives could be making their way to the console.
From the likes of a new Ratchet and Clank to a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel, it appears there are a number of massive games that fans can expect to get their hands on fairly quickly after the release of Sony's newest piece of hardware. However, if the words of the title's composer are to be believed, one rumored game that was seemingly coming to the console may just have been debunked.
Responding to a Twitter thread asking for a remake of MediEvil 2 back on February 2, composer Andrew Barnabas seemingly leaked that the game actually did exist, with the musician simply responding "actually..." He has now clarified his comments by admitting that he responded to the wrong tweet in the thread, instead aiming his response at somebody claiming a remake of the sequel would never happen as the first game didn't sell particularly well.
In his tweet, Barnabas stated that "‘actually’ was in response to Azuremusic’s comment that the remake didn’t do well, actually it did do well." He continues, stating "whether it’s enough to warrant another is still a big unknown but we can all cross our fingers." Sadly, it seems MediEvil 2 won't be coming to PlayStation 5 any time soon, however, it's not out of the realm of possibility to imagine that the game is currently being discussed over at Sony.
As Barnabas original intention for the tweet was meant to show, last year's remake of the first MediEvil was incredibly successful, topping a number of charts worldwide and staying there for a considerable number of weeks. It's also safe to say that remakes of iconic PlayStation 1 classics are far from a rarity right now, with Crash Bandicoot, Resident Evil and Spyro all enjoying revisits of their own. With the game turning out to be a surprising success, there's no denying that it could see a return on the PlayStation 5 sometime down the line.
In the meantime, it appears a number of massive games are slated to hit the PlayStation 5 that will no doubt fill MediEvil 2's spot perfectly. While the likes of a new Gran Turismo and a new IP from the minds behind God Of War are rumored, there's also Bluepoint's heavily speculated upon remake of Demon Souls that will supposedly launch with the console. Evidently players looking for a traditional PlayStation experience remade from the ground up for next-generation hardware will already be covered.
