The Best Class Builds in Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem | Game Rant
Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is taking the action role-playing game world by storm, offering a unique experience and story that separates it from other titles in the genre. One way that the game sets itself apart is through its character progression system, as players are given a sprawling, customizable skill tree in Wolcen in lieu of pre-made classes.
For some newcomers, this freedom may initially feel overwhelming. However, veteran ARPG players will realize the limitless potential and power that it brings, and fans from across the globe have already begun creating and sharing builds to be used throughout Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem. Two such builds are outlined here.
Using this first build, a player's unique avatar becomes a meat-grinder of doom. The keystone skill here is Bladestorm, and everything else focuses on survivability or area-of-effect damage.
Active Skills
- Bladestorm causes a player's Wolcen character to spin in a circle, dealing damage to nearby enemies
- Bleeding Edge spawns spinning axes around the player for a limited time based on current modifiers.
- Juggernaut grants a shield that explodes to hurt nearby enemies after the player takes a certain amount themself.
- Sovereign Shout increases different stats depending on current modifiers, increases rage, and increases attack damage and casting speed by default.
- Wings of Ishmar lets the player engage or disengage from a group of enemies rather than having to fight every time like with some ARPGs.
Passive Effects
- Static Transferral (Alastor) grants an overload point for every player attack, which increases damage. Using a skill purges all overload points, but doubles the damage increase of the accumulated points.
- Intravenous Neural Cord (Alastor) increases the player's attack speed for every critical hit on an enemy.
- Merciless Lethality (Assassin) increases critical hit damage while decreasing non-critical hit damage.
- Backline Raider (Sentinel) buffs spell casting time and attack speed.
- The Wild Card (Soldier) increases the chance that player attacks and spells critically strike, a common element of many upcoming ARPGs.
- Second Wind (Soldier) grants a big health regeneration bonus when the player drops below 30% of their maximum health.
- Feast for the Crows (Warmonger) grants life leech to the player's attacks.
- Gods Amongst Men (Warmonger) buffs physical, poison, and rend damage, but the player can't deal other types of damage.
On the other hand, the archer build allows players to rain death from afar while having some melee deterrent skills reminiscent of the best RPG combat systems.
Active Skills
- Deathgazer Railgun creates a sniper shot that does AOE damage. The player can charge shots to increase their power, but it shrinks the AOE radius.
- Dusk Shroud allows the player to drop a smokescreen that renders them invisible.
- Phantom Blades flings a double-sided blade directly in front of the player.
- Stings of Krearion calls forth a bow that fires several volleys of arrows.
- Wailing Arrows fires arrows in a cone that leave a nasty damage-over-time effect.
Passive Effects
- Shoot to Kill (Ranger) increases damage from the Wolcen player's projectiles.
- Archion’s Teachings (Ranger) decreases damage but causes additional projectiles to be fired.
- Bullseye (Ranger) buffs critical damage from projectiles.
- Backline Raider (Sentinel) increases the player's attack speed.
- Refined Technique (Sentinel) also increases projectile damage.
- Precise Strikes (Sentinel) increases both attack and critical damage.
- Winter Hail (White Arrow) causes player projectiles to bounce off foes when they hit and chain to another nearby target.
- Hungry Stalactite (White Arrow) further increases the damage dealt to a target depending on how much pierce was left on the projectile.
