The Strongest Weapons in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt | Game Rant
Ever since the release of Netflix's The Witcher late last year, CD Projekt Red, the developer of the critically acclaimed video game adaptation of The Witcher, has seen a resurgence of players for its most recent installment, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Apart from the popularity of the Netflix show, The Witcher 3 was also recently ported to the Nintendo Switch, which opened the game to an even wider player base than before.
Of course, despite the boost provided by Netflix, The Witcher 3 itself is still considered by many as a masterpiece, which is why many fans keep returning to the game, even after finishing it multiple times. Apart from its immersive story and well-fleshed out characters, The Witcher 3 has numerous weapons that make combat even more enticing than before.
Now, for those veteran players who are looking to do another playthrough of The Witcher 3 or for those fans of the Netflix show who wants to see what the video game adaptation has to offer, here are the best Steel and Silver Swords that players can find in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and its two expansion packs, Blood & Wine and Hearts of Stone.
The Harpy Relic Silver Sword is one of the most powerful swords that Witcher 3 players can acquire while at a lower level. The sword can be obtained through crafting, and players must first secure the Harpy Diagram to even begin building the weapon. After securing the diagram, players would need to gather materials such as 1x Leather Scraps, 2x Dimetrium Ingots, 1x Ruby, and 2x Monster Saliva. The only downside to the Harpy Relic Silver Sword is that players would have to wait a little longer to use it since the weapon requires the player to be at level 37.
The Griffin Steel Sword is part of the Griffin Witcher Gear, which is the first set of weapon and armor the player will encounter in The Witcher 3. A basic diagram for the sword can be located in The Velen Region. Given that the Griffin Steel Sword and the rest of the gear are made specifically for Witchers, players can upgrade them to enhanced, superior, and mastercrafted versions. The Griffin Steel Sword inflicts 87-107 Damage, with Sign Intensity +5%, and Bonus XP from Humans and Nonhumans +5%.
The Black Unicorn Relic Steel Sword is often regarded as the best weapon to kill human enemies in The Witcher 3. The sword can only be utilized by players who are at level 46 or higher, and the diagram for crafting the Black Unicorn Relic Steel Sword can be found hidden near Kaer Morhen. The sword has a high damage output against humans and can inflict 340-440 damage, +10% Aard sign intensity, +10% chance to cause bleeding, and has three runestone slots. Although the crafted version of the Black Unicorn Relic is great, players can also find the sword by looting a treasure chest near the Inn at the Crossroads, which is better than the crafted one.
Similar to the Ursine and Feline Swords, the Bloodsword focuses on physical damage rather than the utilization of signs and provides a significant boost to critical hit chance and damage, bleed chance, and dismemberment chance. The Bloodsword can be obtained via two Scavengerhunt quests that will reward players with a diagram. The first quest is called Inheritance in Skellige, and the second is Battlefield Loot in Velen.
Most veteran players of the Witcher 3 consider Aerondight the Holy Grail of silver swords. Of course, players should note that this weapon can only be obtainable through the Blood and Wine DLC. The Aerondight is probably one of the most OP swords in The Witcher 3. Every time the player hits with it, the sword's damage increases by 10%. When it is fully charged, the sword will always incur critical damage to enemies. Another good feature of the Aerondight is if it is fully charged when the player delivers the final blow, the damage will be permanently raised. The Aerondight can be obtained by completing the quest "There Can Only Be One."
The Witcher 3 is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
