Diablo 3 Season 20 Update Adds 3 New Awesome Armor Sets
ARPG fans looking for a game to sate their hype until Diablo 4 comes out may now have a not-so-surprising new choice. That choice being Diablo 3. While Diablo 4 won't be coming out in 2020, Blizzard continues to offer support for Diablo 3. That support includes routine seasonal updates for the online game. Season 20, Diablo 3's upcoming content update, looks to one of the game's most interesting yet.
Blizzard just recently announced its plans for Diablo 3's Season 20. That includes the Season's theme, rewards, and planned content additions. Season 20 is particularly exciting because it'll be adding three new armor-sets, one each for the Barbarian, Witch Doctor, and Wizard, and they're each exciting to consider. Season 20 will also dramatically shake up the meta, allowing players to swap any three passive bonuses out in their Kanai's Cube, regardless of whether they come from armor, weapon, or jewelry.
The three new armor sets are going to be very popular in Season 20, as they'll lead to new gameplay opportunities that weren't previously available. For Barbarians, the new set is Frenzy-focused. Frenzy lets players stack attack speed, with the set adding massive amounts of damage. Witch Doctors get a new magic regen and spirit barrage set with a lot of survivability. The Wizard class' set is bound to be very popular. It's Hydra-focused, adding survivability and massive damage the more hydras a Wizard has spawned.
As exciting as the new armor sets are, Season 20's biggest and most exciting change is still its Kanai's Cube change. For the duration of the season, all three Legendary gear powers will be unrestricted by previous limitations. Players can have three Amulet powers, two Weapon and a single Armor power, or any other combination of three. The possibilities offered by all of the new combinations is sure to have Diablo 3 players' mouths watering.
It just goes to show that despite Diablo 4 being announced and players having a lot to look forward to, Diablo 3 isn't going to go silently into retirement. Blizzard's making the most of this last stretch of time before the new game comes out. Between the new sets and the Kanai's Cube change, this is going to be the most radical season yet.
Blizzard's decisions may also be influenced by the growing selection of other ARPGs available or coming soon. Not only does Grinding Gear Games keep putting out massive updates for Path of Exile, but Path of Exile 2 is on the way. There's also Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem out now and a new Magic: The Gathering ARPG in the works named Magic: Legends. Despite the revitalized genre, all eyes remain on Diablo 4's future release.
Diablo 3 is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
