Ghost Recon Breakpoint Immersive Mode Release Date Announced

After a delay until early spring, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint's Immersive Mode is finally being released. In an update to the game's website, developer Ubisoft gave an official release date and ran down the differences in gameplay that this new mode would offer to players.

Officially called "The Ghost Experience," Ghost Recon: Breakpoint's newest update is Ubisoft's latest attempt to draw in new players. Although Ghost Recon: Breakpoint underperformed when it debuted, the developer continued to support it with new updates and reduced prices. However, the Immersive Mode update was previously delayed in order to ensure that it met quality standards. While Ubisoft promised to keep fans posted, it did not give fans a set release date until now.

According to the developer's latest announcement, The Ghost Experience will come out on March 24 and provide players with a more realistic experience. Play tested by Ghost Recon: Breakpoint's Delta Company fan community, Ubisoft promised that the gameplay would resemble the "tactical" and "authentic" style of previous Ghost Recon entries. The new Immersive Mode is highly customizable, allowing users to play a "No Gear Level," where they use one weapon throughout a campaign. Players can also minimize maps and loot notifications in their HUDs. The looting system has also changed, and health regeneration can be increased, reduced or disabled. However, permadeath is not a feature in the update.

When considering the extensive amount of options for customization, the initial indefinite delay is understandable. Considering the Terminator crossover event was also delayed for final touches and details, Ubisoft might be recognizing the need to focus on the quality of the game's updates and events. After criticisms surrounding an emphasis on microtransactions over fully developing new mechanics or a storyline, the more strategy-focused gameplay will hopefully give Ghost Recon: Breakpoint the compelling reboot that it needs.

It seems that players are hopeful that The Ghost Experience will be better as well. Hopefully, with its many difficulty levels and without item levels requiring a focus on looting and shooting, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint can overcome its past flaws, offer more options for newcomers and redeem its standing with longtime fans of the franchise.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Ghost Experience update releases on March 24, 2020.
