Iron Banner Returns to Destiny 2 With New Weapon Quest

Lord Saladin has yet again beckoned all Guardians in Destiny 2, as the Iron Banner has returned. The Crucible based game-mode pits teams of 6 against each other for a chance to win rewards that can be used in all modes within Destiny 2. The Iron Banner will begin on March 24, 2020, and last through March 31, 2020.

The Iron Banner is a limited-time event mode that has been around since the original Destiny. Artifact power, the seasonal power bonus for Trials of Osiris, will be disabled for Iron Banner, keeping the mode more balanced. The mode challenges teammates to capture zones and take down enemies together.

Players will have the ability to complete the "Smelting Light” quest in hopes to unlock a pursuit weapon. Bungie also recently unveiled the return of a deadly shotgun, "The Fourth Horseman," and while that gun cannot be unlocked in multiplayer, the “Point of the Stag" bow is unlocked via Iron Banner quests, and the Smelting Light quests can help with this.

There are also weekly bounties through Lord Saladin that can be accomplished, bringing updates to The Iron Remembrance armor sets. The sets themselves will now be improved to the standards of Armor 2.0. Many fans believe that the Armor 2.0 system needs improvements as well, but having another set of Armo2 2.0 will be a welcome addition.

As Destiny 2 continues to evolve, it will be intriguing to see what tactics Guardians bring to the battlefield when the Iron Banner begins on March 24th. Auto Rifles are viable again for PVP for the first time in a long time, so many will bring their favorite full-auto guns into the fray this time around. Lord Saladin expects the best, so it'll be wise to not let him down.

Bungie continues to update Destiny 2, specifically right now with Trials of Osiris. In many ways, Trials of Osiris has both strengths and weaknesses, which is the case with the overall game itself. Whether or not this recent update will bring back some of the jaded fans is yet to be determined.

With a three-year release date gap between the original Destiny and Destiny 2, and Destiny 2 having been released three years ago, it seems like the timing for the next game in the series is about right. However, Bungie recently confirmed that Destiny 3 would not be released in 2020. But with all the hype around the next console generation, an announcement about something for 2021 wouldn't be a surprise, and something that many fans would be extremely excited about.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia and Xbox One.
