Latest Fortnite Update Secretly Removed Slurp Trucks from the Map

Like with most other online games, Fortnite is no stranger to changes, even going so far as to make a trailer for its latest update. However, the lack of patch notes for the most recent update, v12.20, has made some fans upset as they try to figure out what's a bug and what's an intended change.

It seems that the lack of patch notes may have been to hide a rather controversial change that was made to Fortnite. In exchange for brand new helicopters, the update has secretly removed several Slurp Truck spawns from the game.

As many Fortnite players would agree, Slurp Trucks are an incredible resource. These semi-trucks are filled with huge amounts of Slurp Juice, enough to fully restore a player's health and shields no matter how low they are. Once players break open the Slurp containers, either by hitting them with a pickaxe or shooting them, the tanks spray out Slurp Juice, restoring the health and shields of everyone nearby.

So instead of being warned by Epic before the release of v12.20, players discovered the disappointing news themselves when they went to a supposed Slurp Juice hot spot only to find nothing there. Specifically, the Slurp Trucks near Mount Kay, Slurpy Swamp, and the bridge to the east of Pleasant Park have all been removed from the game. Now, the only Slurp Trucks left are those on the bridge north of Salty Springs, west of Sweaty Sands, northeast of Lazy Lake, and outside of Steamy Stacks.

Another problem that adds to the sudden Slurp Truck removal is the fact that the trucks were experiencing bugs before the patch. PC players would see Slurp Trucks where there weren't any and then they would suddenly disappear, which wasn't quite as funny as the glitch that made the Battle Bus leave players on the starting island. It's possible Epic only removed the trucks temporarily to fix this issue, or they could just be getting rid of them for good. Without any patch notes to clear things up, fans are left to guess.

Another change made in v12.20 was to the Harpoon Gun. Players began to notice that the Harpoon wouldn't pick up loot off the ground the way it used to in earlier versions. Due to the lack of patch notes, though, it took quite some time and investigation to figure out that this was an intentional and unannounced change, not a bug. The update also seems to have secretly nerfed the pump shotgun, but Epic still hasn't said anything about it.

Fortnite is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and iOS and Android devices.
