No Man's Sky Developer Announces The Last Campfire for Nintendo Switch

No Man's Sky developer Sean Murray has revealed that his latest game, The Last Campfire will be coming to the Nintendo Switch later this summer, alongside the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game originally debuted at The Game Awards 2018.

The Last Campfire is a puzzle adventure game where players are on a mysterious search for their way home. Murray mentioned on his Twitter that he and his team wanted to differentiate the game by creating an emotional atmosphere with an aminated look and feel. The trailer itself shows they seem to have done an excellent job thus far.

The Switch announcement was unveiled during the recent March Nintendo Direct Indie Showcase, which is something that Murray said he was specifically very proud of. One of the highlights of the direct, The Last Campfire has quickly picked up steam online for its art-style and players are looking forward to navigating the wilderness with strange creatures, ruins, frogs, and of course, campfires.

Along with the exciting news of being able to share the trailer with fans online, and on the Nintendo Direct, Murray confirmed that the rest of his team will be finishing the game in isolation, most likely due to the coronavirus. The devastating pandemic has swept over the globe and altered many plans. Recently, E3 was confirmed to be canceled thanks to COVID-19, the most impactful gaming event each year. Fans will hope that Murray and his team will finish The Last Campfire by the summer.

The Last Campfire will be the first follow up game to the controversial but mostly successful No Man's Sky. The game debuted with issues, and many fans felt like they were sold a bill of goods. However, so much of No Man's Sky has changed since launch. It looks like The Last Campfire will be a very different game from No Man's Sky, Murray and his team will certainly hope to launch a more polished game this time around.

With The Last Campfire set to launch on the Nintendo hybrid console, this may rejuvenate the rumors about No Man's Sky being ported to the Nintendo Switch. For now, fans have a beautiful trailer for Sean Murray's new game to hold them over until the summer, as they anxiously wait for the mysterious and possibly tear-jerking puzzler.

The Last Campfire is set to launch in the Summer for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
