Red Dead Redemption 2's Supernatural Creatures Explained

Ever since its release to consoles back in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 has become a global phenomenon, and the game finally arrived in the PC several months ago. Apart from its immersive story and gameplay, Red Dead Redemption 2 boasts one of the most expansive open-world environments that contain all sorts of landscapes, people, animals, and even supernatural creatures.

Although Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game that is pretty much grounded in the laws of the real world, it still features some interesting creatures that are deemed as mythical and supernatural. Now, players who are interested in knowing about the bizarre creatures that they could encounter in the game, here is a list of supernatural creatures that are found in Red Dead Redemption 2.

A Sasquatch, or also known as Big Foot, is described as a huge, hairy, ape-like creature that stands at 6-10 feet tall. In real-life, the Sasquatch is commonly found in North American folklore, and its inclusion in Red Dead Redemption 2 is not at all surprising given that the game is set in a fictionalized United States.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, players will encounter a skeleton that is widely believed to be that of the Big Foot. The skeleton is located under a ridge on the face of Mt. Shan, which can be found on the north of Strawberry in West Elizabeth. After this discovery, players must find a particular flock of birds near the Calumet River. Players must then follow the birds, which will lead them to a cave where Big Foot is located. Here, players will be able to have a nice chat with the Sasquatch, but the creature will not show himself. After three in-game days, players will be able to have a chat again with Big Foot, and again, the creature will not show itself. Unfortunately, players won't be able to have a visual confirmation of Big Foot, and these two encounters will be the only time that players will be able to interact with it.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, players will be able to encounter several supernatural beings, including ghosts. Probably one of the most popular ghost sightings in Red Dead Redemption 2 is the spirit of Agnes Dowd. Upon visiting the swamps of Lemoyne somewhere between 9 PM and 3 AM, players will hear a woman crying near the area. Upon further investigation, players will see an apparition of Agnes Dowd in a white dress. If players try to get close, the ghost will disappear. However, if players stay back, they will bear witness to how Agnes died, which is both sad and a creepy sight to behold.

Although they are not zombies in the traditional sense, The Night Folk are a group of psychopathic killers who reside around the swamps of Bayou Nwa. They hunt prey by setting up traps at night to rob and loot unsuspecting people before they kill them in torturous ways. Most of the time, the victims of the Night Folk can be found hanging on trees, and are often gutted, dismembered, and disfigured. The Night Folk are unable to speak, however, they produce animal noises, which they use to signal attacks on people. They are also seen using bows and melee weapons to hunt their prey and are usually wearing tattered clothes. The Night Folk are rumored to be practitioners of the Louisiana variant of Voodoo, but it is also unclear whether they are truly human.

The Vampire is another supernatural being that can be found living in the city of Saint-Denis in Red Dead Redemption 2. The creature is a tall, bald man that features a deathly pale skin with pointed ears, long fingers, and a mouth filled with a pair of razor-sharp fangs. The vampire can be encountered after Arthur discovers five writings, to which he receives a mark on the map in the form of a crude pentagram, which points to the location of the vampire. Upon following the mark, players will be led to an alley south of the cathedral, across the general store, where they will see the vampire sucking the life out of someone.

Upon seeing that he was discovered, the vampire would immediately threaten the player and even tell him that if he doesn't leave, he will be forced to kill Arthur as well. If the player antagonizes the vampire or refuses to leave the alley, the creature will attack with a dagger that will kill the player instantly when hit. However, the player can kill the vampire, or hogtie it and drag it into the Tiny Church where it will die when placed before the crucifix. Upon the vampire's death, players will be able to loot his dagger, one Stringy Meat, and two Bat Wings. The vampire in Red Dead Redemption 2 appears to be murderous, violent and has a constant need to drink human blood.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, players will be able to encounter something that is literally out of this world. In the north of Emerald Ranch, players will find a cabin where a suicide note is located saying the line "the second hour under the half-moon." Now, on a half-moon night, if the player visits the same location at 2 AM, they will witness a UFO flying across the sky. Unfortunately, players won't be able to actually encounter the being flying the UFO.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
