Resident Evil 3: Everything You Need to Know Before Launch

The release of Resident Evil 3 Remake is just around the corner, coming out on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on April 3. Excitement has reached a high point, with the release of the Resident Evil 3 Demo recently, allowing fans to obtain a glimpse of the threat posed by the infamous Nemesis.

There are a number of options for pre-ordering Resident Evil 3 Remake, as well as other events, to prepare for the release of Resident Evil 3 Remake. Here are some of the things fans may want to consider before diving into the latest iteration of Raccoon City.

Pre-ordering any version of Resident Evil 3, whether it be the digital or physical copies, will grant access to the Jill and Carlos Classic Costume Pack in Resident Evil 3. These are optional costumes for Jill and Carlos which resemble the designs and look of their original manifestations in the 1999 Resident Evil 3 title, including hair styles.

As for those wishing to purchase the PC version of the game, only a digital version of Resident Evil 3 will be available on Steam. Unfortunately, this means that the Collector Edition of Resident Evil 3 will only be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, since it is a physical version only. Furthermore, while the Standard Edition comes with the Resident Evil 3 base game and the online multiplayer stand-alone title, Resident Evil Resistance, the Collector's Editions comes with much more, but at a steep price of $179.99.

The Resident Evil 3 Collector's Edition comes with an 11-inch Jill Valentine figure, which resembles her new in-game attire. Also included is a "Project: N" and "Project: R" Art Book, with photographs, reports and documents that are made to look like official documents produced by Umbrella Corporation created in the midst of their many nefarious experiments. A Raccoon City Double-Sided poster is also included in the Resident Evil 3 Collector's Edition, with a map of Raccoon City made to appear as if it is a map used by survivors during the outbreak, with various marks on it of key locations.

Also included in the Resident Evil 3 Collector's Edition is a Digital Double Album Soundtrack voucher, enabling buyers to obtain and download the soundtrack for both Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Resistance. Finally, the most impressive item in the Collector's Edition is perhaps the "alternate S.T.A.R.S. version of the iconic item box." Based on the official description of this version, it appears that all items in the Collector's Edition will be stored in this box. Given that the Jill Valentine figure is 11 inches in length, this box should be a fairly impressive size, which fans can use for storing whatever they may wish.

Resident Evil 3 takes place during an interesting timeframe in the Resident Evil universe, starting just before the events that transpire in Resident Evil 2, but also taking place after those events as well. In other words, Resident Evil 2 takes place in between the events of Resident Evil 3When Dr. William Birkin is discovered to be in the process of selling virus samples to the U.S. Military, Umbrella sent in its swat team to raid his laboratory in Umbrella's research facility below Raccoon City. Before the events of both Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 2, on September 23, 1998, Umbrella attempted to assassinate Dr. Birkin in his laboratory, but failed. Instead, Dr. Birkin quickly injected himself with the G-Virus, enabling him to survive the assassination attempt, but amid all the chaos, he spilled liquid samples of the T-Virus all over the floor of the laboratory.

In the days that followed, rats in the facility became infected with the T-Virus samples spilled by Dr. William Birkin, and quickly the sewers below Raccoon City became infected. As the T-Virus made its way to the surface in the coming days, infecting humans and turning them into zombies, the events of Resident Evil 3 begin on September 28, as Raccoon City is under quarantine and Jill valentine starts her journey to escape the city, starting from her residence in an apartment building.

For those who can not wait until April 3 to begin their journey into Resident Evil 3, or those who may merely be curious, Capcom has released a Resident Evil 3 demo for PC, Xbox One and PS4 which is available now. Unlike Resident Evil 2's 30-minute one-shot demo, the Resident Evil 3 demo is replayable, without any time limit. That said, most players can finish the Resident Evil 3 demo in less than an hour, and it showcases a number of streets in Raccoon City which allow players to enter various shops and restaurants. The main mission of the demo is for players to make their way to the substation by looking for various items to traverse the environment around them.

For those who may be curious about the Nemesis' functions within the gameplay of Resident Evil 3, the demo includes full encounters with the Nemesis that put into perspective its relentless powers and sheer aggression. As fans have discovered in the demo, it also appears some new zombie types will be encountered in Resident Evil 3, thanks to mutations given to them by the Nemesis.

The inclusion of the stand-alone online multiplayer game, Resident Evil Resistance, certainly makes Resident Evil 3 a full package deal. Resident Evil Resistance is a 4 versus 1 asymmetrical online game in which 4 players take on the role of survivors in their effort to overcome one player who controls the Mastermind. The Mastermind sits at a computer terminal and deploys various monsters which he or she can take control of, including Mr. X. The Mastermind also is able to set traps and take control of gun turrets to take down the survivors, as they traverse the confines of the environment looking for key items and objectives to help them escape.

While Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Resistance is not canon, it still has a minuscule storyline of its own to explain its 4 versus 1 paradigm. The survivors play the role of test subjects for Umbrella, in test environments by which Umbrella can see the capabilities of its own monstrous creations and bio-weapons and gauge their capabilities against the survivors. Those who wish to take on the role of the Mastermind in Resident Evil Resistance can control characters such as Alex Wesker and even Ozwell Spencer, one of the key founders of Umbrella.

Resident Evil Resistance Open Beta will be available to play starting from March 27 and all the way until its final release date. It is unclear if progress or achievements made in the Resident Evil Resistance Open Beta will carry over to its final release on April 3, or if everything will reset.

Resident Evil 3 will release on April 3 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
