Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC Add-Ons Hinted At | Game Rant

Nintendo is making the most of Animal Crossing: New Horizons' impressive launch. The life sim has its first seasonal event going on right now, culminating in an April 12 holiday celebration. Beyond Bunny Day, there's guaranteed to be a lot of new content being worked on, though exactly what Nintendo's putting together for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a mystery, for now. But one watchful player did notice a hint in-game regarding a feature that may arrive in Animal Crossing: New Horizons soon.

As Animal Crossing: New Horizons players know, their villagers often talk about events that are happening in their town. Sometimes, like with Bunny Day, it can even get a bit too repetitive, but in the case of Twitter user sylvidia, their villager Fang said something quite surprising.

When asked to chat, Fang brings up a curious topic. Fang says, "Can't say much about art... But I like that there's some in the museum here for me to gawk at." Fang goes on to describe how they fake being interested in the art, but what's most important is that Animal Crossing: New Horizons' museum doesn't actually feature an art gallery.

The museum in Animal Crossing: New Horizons currently features three wings. There's a wing for displaying fossils, as well as a wing each for live fish and bug displays, but there's currently no way to unlock additional wings, for art galleries or otherwise. If Fang's right, though, an art gallery addition to the Museum may be in the works.

Art galleries have long been a part of the Animal Crossing franchise. The original Japanese Animal Forest game for Nintendo 64 featured paintings, as did Animal Crossing for the GameCube and both Wild World and City Folk, too. Paintings could be bought from Tom Nook's store, bought from Crazy Redd's black market, or gifted by other villagers. Players could then take their paintings and display them in their village Museum as a collectible.

For now, Nintendo has made no official announcement regarding any Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC plans. The museum makes a lot of sense as a place to expand going forward. That doesn't mean that Nintendo will do so, however, and this Fang dialogue may be an artifact remaining from a canceled feature. Nintendo also hasn't shared any plans for independent DLC, just seasonal event DLC. It might be presumptuous to consider DLC plans before Nintendo's even announced their intent, but hopefully, Nintendo shares more info soon.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
