Bethesda is Donating $1 Million to Fight Coronavirus | Game Rant
As many remain homebound due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, various companies in the video game industry like Microsoft and Xbox have put together donation initiatives for coronavirus relief causes and other charities. Today Bethesda Softworks and its parent company ZeniMax Media announced they are donating $1 million in order to "do more than keep you entertained and connected" during the pandemic.
The biggest chunk of that donation, $500,000, is going to the nonprofit Direct Relief to help provide personal protective equipment to health care workers according to Bethesda's statement. Another $250,000 will be going to UNICEF, which is partnered with front-line responders to protect children and families, while the rest will be donated to local relief efforts "within the communities where we work and live," chosen by individual studios.
Bethesda's statement also says some of its employees will be streaming on Twitch as part of a #BethesdaAtHome campaign to connect with fans and offer them the opportunity to further support those aforementioned charities. Companies like EA have unveiled similar initiatives in recent months.
Bethesda has recently rolled out the Wastelanders Expansion for Fallout 76, and is currently working on The Elder Scrolls 6.
