Call of Duty Adding New Multiplayer Operator Ronin to Modern Warfare and Warzone This Week

Activision's Call of Duty franchise is at peak popularity, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone, and a remake of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 story campaign have offered plenty of options to keep fans busy while much of the world is stuck at home. The company has also announced a number of things coming to its titles throughout the week, including a Cabin Fever playlist in Modern Warfare, but the addition of a new playable operator is undoubtedly one of the biggest.

Ronin, an ex-Special Forces soldier and "master of multiple fighting systems" who fights for the Coalition, is available now through a bundle in the Call of Duty Store that costs 2,400 COD Points. The character described as a "one-man army" can be used in both Modern Warfare and Warzone, and his bundle includes cosmetics and two legendary weapons: The "Peace and Tranquility" pistol and the "Soulful Wanderer."

As one of the two new Operators announced for Modern Warfare Season Three on April 7, alongside an Allegiance fighter named Iskra, Ronin is said to be "proficient in unconventional warfare." He apparently has "ruthless" Finishing Moves for players to utilize.

Alongside Ronin's bundle, Activision has added two weapon bundles called "Fool's Gold II" and "Toxic Ooze" that include legendary weapon blueprints for Modern Warfare and Warzone. Today's Activision Games Blog post also outlines updates coming to Call of Duty: Mobile, which recently began its Steel Legion season of content, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and the Call of Duty League.

New Operators in the recent Call of Duty games have offered players the chance to take on their opponents with a more customizable flair, and the additions have been popular enough that they keep on coming. In February, Modern Warfare released a playable Operator named Mace who brought along a light machine gun, a shotgun, and a special knife.

Ronin is the first character being introduced since the launch of the Warzone, so it's good to see that Activision will allow players to use him in both games. That said the new battle royale game has a number of glitches, including one that makes players invincible, so the developers will have to make sure their game stays patched if they want to have the opportunity to add more characters going forward.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone are out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
