Destiny 2 Exotic is Still Broken, But Bungie Plans to Fix It Next Season
Bungie's flagship title, Destiny 2, has run into problems with bugs in the past, and for the most part players tend to manage just fine as long as the error doesn't break the game. This is especially prevalent with the game's large array of legendary and exotic guns, as the constantly evolving nature of the weapons can sometimes affect different pieces of equipment in unexpected ways.
One gun, in particular, has unfortunately been left in a state that pulls it out of Destiny 2's meta for a few months now, and that would be the exotic scout rifle, Polaris Lance. This exotic weapon comes from way back in the Warmind expansion and came with the perk "Perfect Fifth" which both returns precision hits to the player's magazine, but also gives the fifth shot a delayed solar burst for landing four precision shots in a row.
While the Polaris Lance became a favorite among many scout rifle users, the bug has severely diminished its usefulness, as players who continue firing after the "Perfect Fifth" activates will inadvertently cancel the explosion that is supposed to follow the fifth precision hit. One Redditor in particular, going under that name crd459, posted on the Destiny subreddit in order to voice their concern that their favorite gun still hasn't been fixed. However, Bungie's community manager on Reddit, Cosmo23, responded to the post, claiming that a fix is looking to be implemented in the next season update.
Not much more information was given as to the state of this fix, but according to Cosmo23, fans can expect the "Perfect Fifth" to be reinstated to its former glory at some point in the next season. It should be noted that the exact wording used implies that the perk will be fixed "for the next season" of Destiny 2, but that doesn't necessarily confirm that Polaris Lance will be back to fighting shape at the launch of the next season. At the moment, there are a number of weapon balances that Bungie is currently working on, so it's difficult to confirm where on the list of necessary fixes the exotic scout rifle lands.
Of course, this is an issue that affects many players differently, as is apparent with the original Reddit poster claiming that it was his favorite weapon in Destiny 2. For some, especially those inclined to gravitate towards scout rifles, the Polaris Lance could very well be the pivoting factor for going up against Destiny 2's greatest challenges. However, there are likely some who wouldn't even notice this bug, and as a result, Bungie always has to weigh its options for what aspects need more attention for both building new content and fixing older bugs.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
