Fox Cancels Final Two Episodes of Empire | Game Rant
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has led to a series of delays and cancellations in entertainment production, with Sony Pictures' Uncharted adaptation being one of the most recent to receive yet another push. Fox's popular dramatic television series Empire is canceling the last two episodes of the show's final season because of an indefinitely halted production as a result of the worldwide closures.
Because of this cancellation, Empire will now end with Season 6, Episode 18 airing on April 21, 2020, according to entertainment news website TheWrap. That episode will reportedly be re-cut with footage leftover from completed production, and current marketing for the upcoming Episode 16 now lists it as one of "the final three episodes."
While the series surrounding the trials and tribulations of a hip-hop mogul dealing with the legacy of his empire has been hugely successful for Fox since premiering in 2015, it has also gone through its share of controversies. Jussie Smollett, one of the show's stars, went through legal trouble for allegedly falsifying claims of being a victim to a hate crime, but was exonerated of those charges in early 2019.
Coronavirus concerns have also led to other changes, such as the decision to broadcast NASCAR races recorded virtually via the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series.
