Little Women Scene Has Hydroflask, Water Bottle in Shot
Filming a movie is a difficult task. It requires many moving pieces, which coupled together can make it difficult to get the final product ready in time. That's even more difficult for period-pieces, which will be picked apart for any inaccuracy by the internet. Unfortunately, that's been the case for Little Women, which features not one, but two, water bottles in a particular scene.
The mistake was first noticed by Madelyn Rancourt, a self-proclaimed Little Women superfan who saw the movie seven times in theaters. During the scene where the March family and the Laurances meet for the first time, both a Hydroflask, a specific brand of metal water bottles, and a plastic bottle can be seen behind Timothée Chalamet's character.
Since then, many fans have criticized the error, comparing it to a Starbucks cup found in Game of Thrones last year. However, as Variety pointed out, some believe that this was an intentional call back by Greta Gerwig, the film's director, as a callback to Sofia Coppola, who intentionally left a pair of Converse in the period film Marie Antoinette.
Either way, fans were sure to point out the error at some point, regardless of whether it was an easter egg or an accident. However, the story of how it surfaced is arguably more interesting than the water bottles, given that it was first revealed on Tik Tok. Plus, the bottles don't seem to have hurt Little Women's review scores.
Little Women is available now.
