Resident Evil: Resistance Adding New Mastermind Soon | Game Rant
Capcom has officially updated the asymmetric multiplayer game Resident Evil: Resistance with its first new playable character, Jill Valentine. In the title packaged together with the Resident Evil 3 remake, she is a Survivor character, one who plays in teams of four to try and escape from hordes of monsters and traps set loose during an experiment being conducted by a single Mastermind.
Soon after the former S.T.A.R.S. agent joined Resistance, the official Resident Evil Twitter account updated RE: Resistance's monthly road map to announce the next character being added in May: Nicholai Ginovaef, who will become the fifth Mastermind "in a future title update." Known as the "Silver Wolf," Ginovaef serves as one of the antagonists in Resident Evil 3, and returns in its remake released earlier this month.
As of April 12, 2020, Annette Birkin was the most used Mastermind in Resident Evil: Resistance, and that continues to be the case according to the game's online World Records statistics as of this writing. Jill Valentine has already been a part of nearly 105,000 experiments, and has successfully escaped 36,431 of them.
The Resident Evil: Resistance road map currently shows the next update following Ginovaef's inclusion will be coming in June, however the fact that it is covered in 'under construction' tape rather than being a character silhouette as shown previously for May suggests players can anticipate something different will be added. Whether the addition will be a new creature for Masterminds like Ginovaef to use, new weapons, or something else entirely will have to be seen later.
One thing that is certain is that Capcom has been seeking feedback with a survey for fans following the release of Resident Evil 3 and Resistance. On Thursday a message was sent out by the Resident Evil: Resistance development team letting those fans know they are "hard at work" implementing quality of life adjustments and improving the game's matchmaking system.
In the wake of Resident Evil 3's release, some criticism has been lobbed at the long-time developer for putting out a product some felt was a poor follow-up to last year's Resident Evil 2 remake. Fans have taken this discontent into their own hands by doing things like releasing mods that allow Jill Valentine to explore more of Raccoon City early on in the game.
Resident Evil Resistance is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, alongside Resident Evil 3.
