Super Mario x Levi's Collection Delayed Due to the Coronavirus
A crossover between the iconic Super Mario franchise and clothing manufacturer Levi's Jeans was teased at the beginning of March. However, Levi's announced that the line of Mario-themed clothing is experiencing "slight product delays" in North and South America due to the coronavirus pandemic via Twitter Wednesday.
The denim collection was officially unveiled on Mario Day, March 10, and given an April 1 release date. Its offerings range from more subtle pieces like denim jackets and overalls covered in Nintendo iconography to clothing like shorts and jackets packed to the brim with art depicting various Super Mario characters.
After this delay Levi's said it will keep the world posted on a new launch date for the clothing line, and the company hopes everyone will stay safe and stay home in the meantime. While a number of comments on the Twitter post expressed frustration that Levi's waited until around 2:30 p.m. PST the day of the release to talk about the delay, many are still excited to get their hands on Super Mario-branded merchandise.
Whenever the Super Mario x Levi's denim collection becomes available in the Americas, it will be part of a long tradition of video game clothing and fashion items that have given gamers the chance to rep their favorite franchises at all times.
