Which Man Of Medan Character Are You Based On Your Myers-Briggs® Type?
Supermassive games have started a game series called The Dark Pictures Anthology and, if their successful horror game Until Dawn is anything to go by, it'll be a hit. They've started with Man of Medan, a horror game that primarily revolves around a ghost ship with some supernatural happenings.
Supermassive are known for creating character backstories that get players attached to whether they live or die. Man of Medan is no exception, with some likable (or at least magnetic) personalities. The characters have never taken a Myers-Briggs test, presumably — or perhaps they have — but if they did, these would probably be the results.
8 The Curator: INTJ
The Curator is the narrator of the story, who pops in and out between sections to offer hints. Many players have speculated he will be the constant feature of Dark Pictures, there to tie all of the stories together.
He's very much a mystery but seems methodical in his guiding, and almost smug in his knowledge that he's aware of more than the player. Who loves to take pride in their knowledge more than an INTJ?
7 Joe: INFP
Players meet Joe in the prologue along with his buddy and sadly, he doesn't stick around for long. His traits include altruism and recklessness, and he seems to be keeping a secret — those who play the solo story, or play as shared but choose to start out as Joe, will know that he has a son he doesn't seem to talk about to anyone except the fortune teller.
The secrecy and altruism would suggest he is an INFP. Not every introvert is anti-social!
6 Charlie: ESFP
Like Joe, Charlie isn't around for long. But for the part that he is around, he seems fun-loving, enthusiastic, and a bit of a show-off. He radiates an energy that suggests he wants to be liked more than anything and enjoys being popular, which places him firmly in the entertainer category.
Going by the little that players seem to see, he is an ESFP.
5 Brad: INTP
Brad is one of the very few introverts players are introduced to in the game. He's quiet and awkward, and seems to be very nervous about the idea of spending much time around people — it's not his comfort zone. As he tells his brother Alex.
Although he's withdrawn, he has a tendency to be condescending and insensitive towards the others at points throughout he story, which makes him an INTP.
4 Alex: ESFJ
His brother Alex, however, could literally not be more of an opposite.
ESFJs are known for being a tad too needy — it's one of their weaknesses. Is there anything more needy than proposing to your short-term girlfriend right after a near-death experience?
But he's not all faults. Alex is very loyal to the group, risks himself multiple times for them, and seems to have much better people skills than his brother. He's one of the strongest personalities in the story, and screams ESFJ.
3 Julia: ESFP
Speaking of strong personalities, Alex's girlfriend Julia likes to make herself heard. She likes to show off, and her biggest weaknesses are that she seems to be an impulsive poor planner. She throws herself into dangerous situations more than once, determined to impress the others and bring back mementos from a wrecked plane, much to the irritation of some of her friends.
She does seem to be a tad more practical, depending on how she's played. She has the option to reject Alex's proposal because it's simply not the right time, and some of her ideas when it comes to getting out of sticky situations put the others to shame.
2 Conrad: ESTP
Conrad is the brother of Julia and definitely the most annoying character to most players. He hits relentlessly on their captain, and definitely seems to be the most sociable of the group. It's not always in a good way, but credit where credit's due — he goes out of his way to include Brad and try to make him feel comfortable, cracking open a beer with him towards the start.
Although he can go too far when it comes to people's comfort zones, Conrad is nothing if not direct. The only thing ESTPs usually are that Conrad most definitely is not, is perceptive — he doesn't back off when told to.
Of course, this can go in his favor when it comes to Fliss.
1 Fliss: ENTJ
Fliss is captain of the boat and has no problem taking charge. She's quick to remind the others of the rules on the water, and loves to be a leader. She could also be the executive type, but seems like a natural commander, even if she's overridden a lot in this situation by the other people on the boat.
In a situation in which she could be a true commander though, she'd definitely shine. Her natural charisma and relentless pursuit of being in control (both when it comes to the crew and Conrad!) means she ultimately screams ENTJ.
