In the same week that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 was revealed for the Xbox One and PS4, the legendary skateboarder's 900-degree turn record has been broken, by an 11-year-old.
Brazilian skater Gui Khury is considered a prodigy in the world of skating. Although there is no news on if he will be in the new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, perhaps he should be now. Khury posted a video on his Instagram, 21 years after Tony Hawk landed a 900, doing the impossible, a 1080.
Khury landed the remarkable trick in an indoor warehouse with a halfpipe, and in many ways the 11-year-old looks like a mini Tony Hawk. After pulling off the full three spins, Khury gets around just in time to land the move, and euphoria begins. The fellow skateboarders and onlookers rejoice with him, as Pro Skater-style music is playing in the background.
Tony Hawk landed a 900 in front of thousands of fans at X Games 1999. He failed continuously, as the trick is incredibly difficult. But eventually, he landed the insane move, to the massive applause of the crowd. His 21-year reign for the record for his trick is quite remarkable. 1999 was probably right around the apex of Tony Hawk's popularity, including his video games, which is why people are so excited to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 in gorgeous 4k for the first time.
