Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cat Villager Tier List | Game Rant
Animal Crossing: New Horizons features 400 non-playable characters that players can recruit to live on their island. However, only 10 can live in the village at any given time, which is why players are becoming very selective in choosing who they want as a neighbor. Of course, all villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are adorable in their own unique ways, and while the game features 35 species of animals, not all of them are represented equally.
As it stands, cats are one of the species of animals that are well-represented in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. There are currently 22 cat villagers in the game, which is definitely good news for players who are also dedicated cat-lovers. However, players should remember that cats, just like any other species in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, are subdivided into eight personality types that players should look into before inviting them on their island. Now, players who are looking for a guide on which cat villager to invite can check out this tier list that ranks the cat characters in the game by player preference and popularity.
Villagers: Ankha, Raymond
On top of the list is Ankha and Raymond, which is no doubt the two of the most popular villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Of course, given that these two villagers are in extreme demand, the prices for both Ankha and Raymond are currently in the millions (bells) at the popular trading site Nookazon. Although Ankha has been in Animal Crossing ever since the franchise made its debut in the early 2000s, Raymond is a newcomer who was first introduced in 2017's Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. At the moment, these two are the most sought-after villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons given their cute and unique character design and colorful personality.
Villagers: Bob, Felicity, Kid Cat, Mitzi, Monique
Cats that are found in this tier are still popular among Animal Crossing fans, but their fame is no match to that of Ankha and Raymond. Several villagers in this list are also veterans of Animal Crossing such as Monique who made her debut in the series in the first Animal Crossing game. Out of all the cats in this tier, Monique is the most popular choice among fans, and just like most female cats in Animal Crossing, Monique has a snooty personality. This means that she is fond of talking about make-up and fashion, and loves gossiping about other villagers.
Villagers: Kiki, Lolly, Merry, Tom, Tangy
Cats in this tier are still pretty much popular among veteran Animal Crossing fans, given that most of them have appeared in numerous games from the Animal Crossing franchise. Out of all the cat villagers in this Tier, Kiki is probably one of the most recognizable ones, given that she has appeared game all the way to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Kiki has a normal personality, which means that she can get along with just about everyone and will be friendly towards the player even at the start of the game.
Villagers: Punchy, Kitty, Purrl, Moe, Olivia
Characters in Tier D are the not so well known villagers even though they are all veterans in the Animal Crossing franchise. Of course, given that the series as a whole has produced a wide cast of villagers, it is understandable that not all of them will be remembered by even the most dedicated Animal Crossing fans. Among all the cats in Tier D, Kitty remains to be the most popular one. To those unfamiliar, Kitty is a snooty villager who became popular in Animal Crossing: New Leaf due to her rude and mean remarks towards the player and other villagers. However, once the player is able to befriend Kitty, she will eventually warm up to them and will even be slightly nice than usual.
Villagers: Kabuki, Kati, Rosie, Rudy, Stinky
Finally, the last tier of cat villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons contains those characters that are largely unfamiliar to most players. Of course, it is worth noting that cat villagers are one of the most popular species in the franchise, which is why those in this tier are still more recognizable than those belonging to a less popular species. Among the villagers on this list, Kabuki is probably the most popular. Having a cranky personality, Kabuki will mostly appear grouchy and agitated towards the player and is more difficult to befriend than most villagers. His name comes from the traditional Japanese theatre style, which also influenced his unique look.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
