Destiny 2 Glitch Reveals Changes Coming to Game at Season End

The current season in Destiny 2, Season of the Worthy, has a pretty simple narrative setup: the Cabal have set Ghaul's spacecraft The Almighty on a crash course with the Last City, and the Guardians need the Warmind Rasputin's help to stop it. While this season has been much more PvP-focused than PvE, mostly due to the addition of Trials of Osiris, the story about The Almighty that has tied into the Seraph Tower PvE events will undoubtedly come to a conclusion in June when the season ends.

A new glitch appears to show what will happen at the end of the season in regards to The Almighty and if it is successful in destroying the Last City. Spoilers, obviously. User SergeantGamerr posted photos to the Destiny 2 subreddit, showing that there is some obvious damage in the Tower, seeming to show that The Almighty does cause some damage to the Tower in its destructive descent toward earth.

This damage is not appearing regularly in the Tower with very few, if any, players able to replicate it, but it appeared for this particular user when they fast traveled in the Tower. The glitch caused all the content in the Tower for Guardian Games to disappear and added this new destruction to the Tower.

It is hard to imagine that The Almighty will be successful in destroying the Last City, considering there would be much more damage if that were the case. But this glitch does seem to hint that The Almighty may come much closer to success than players might think and that this damage shown in the Tower could be caused by some debris from The Almighty as it falls or is destroyed by Rasputin.

This change falls into line with how Destiny 2 has been working in Year 3, with visual changes appearing to signal a bit of world change in the game. In Season of the Undying, it was the construction of the Vex portal behind Ikora Rey. In Season of Dawn, it was the reappearance of Saint-14 in the Tower. And now, in Season of the Worthy, it appears that the Tower will be damaged to remind players of the close call and Guardians' brush with The Almighty.

Season of the Worthy ends on June 9th, so this would likely take place some time near that date. There are also many leaks that show that more story quests are likely going to happen in the last month of the season, along with the conclusion to the story of The Almighty. While this glitch does not provide the whole story, it definitely provides some strong hints as to what will occur over the next few weeks.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
